Fair point, Stewart. A promise broken by GI Joe so soon after it was made. I’m sure Jon is right and there will be many more AJ’s ripened for recruitment, just as will have been the case everywhere else Osborne has failed to deliver a new stadium. The local press will aid and abet that, I expect.

Interesting as it may be, it is obviously posted in the wrong thread. It has no information or opinions on TUST or the future of TUST. Just as linking to an article on whether Luke Young should join Cheltenham or Yeovil should not be posted in this thread because a TUST member expressed an opinion.
Nothing against the article or opinions posted in it, but people (as I've just been) will be mislead if they're expecting to read about TUST by clicking on that link. What next ? A collection of views on the new Home Secretary posted on this thread, because a TUST member is quoted ? Coming only a few days after Admin have specifically reminded us to post things in the right place, this was particularly careless, and a mistake which I feel sure you will want to easily and quickly rectify.

Robin Causley comes across very well in the article. He may well be one of those meeting Osborne next week.

Oh Alpine Joe you are infuriating and amusing but I do enjoy your posts. I would hardly call our past crossing swords would you? I will give you - 'potty mouthed' for one sentence I guess, although I am pretty sure I asterisked it. As usual I was trying to get across the point that I do not want to run a football club, or am I left wing or whatever you want to call me. I have in the past bought and renovated two up, two down properties but building a new stadium is a bit out of my league, I guess I should change it to property renovator, although we did build an extension once. Oh and just to clarify I met an Argyle supporter and then we had the four children. Ali

Ali Of course not really, Ali, but I do have a reputation to keep up. It's the same with Rob, it's only toy plastic swords we ever cross as well. You got your point over well, and I'm sure will continue to do so on behalf of TUST. The spruced up website is looking good. You'd be my nomination for the local board .

MAY 10TH SHOWDOWNIt's the eve of the big day. Quite possibly a day that will have huge significance in the history of TUST. Now is the time to capitalise of the useful steps already made. A more moderate leadership aided by a wonderful Head of Communications. The hours worth of phone discussions so quickly followed up by a face to face meeting. And with the Local Board members due to be revealed this Summer, some are putting two and two together and coming up with answers other than 3 or 5. Will this be the moment when TUST finally come in from the cold ? When the seemingly preferred stance of 'In the best interests of stirring up trouble' will be laid to rest, and an unfamiliar dabble with cooperation experimented with instead ? As always there's one big obstacle, one dark cloud on the horizon. How could such a thing be achieved without one almighty backlash from the influential Far Left Wing, the TUST Militants ? Already antagonised by the 'Thumbs up to Private Ownership' message displayed on TUST's revamped website, I doubt the Militants are in the mood for compromise. Flexing their muscles with separate campaigns targeting Luke Young and the Lathrope benefit game, only a fool would underestimate them. Without the numbers on the ground locally, but had attempts been made to stage the Lathrope benefit game in London, some believe Militants could have amassed sufficient protesters to get it called off. Let's review what we know so far: 1.Venue - Originally scheduled to take place in the demilitarized zone on the North/South Korean border, it has since been decided that with the nice weather at home, it will be held at Osborne Towers, Chew Magna. This will enable the three TUST directors to enjoy croquet on the extensive and well maintained lawns at Osborne Towers, before the hard negotiations take place after lunch, and possibly long into the evening. The TUST top brass have already travelled up and will spend this evening at the Premier Inn at Weston-super-Mare, making the shorter journey across country to Osborne Towers on Thursday morning. Below: TUST Board members seen arriving in Weston today, and heading to their hotel 2. Objective - While some may say anything other than securing a place on the Local Board should be seen as failure, I'm not so sure. More minor successes such as enrolling Clarke Osborne as a TUST member will have been worthwhile. As will convincing Mr.Osborne that the more moderate approach and speech is not just a temporary facade concealing the same old Militant organisation underneath. Constructive talks will require some give and take on both sides, and a cordial atmosphere among the beer and sandwiches is to be hoped for. 3. Possible consequences for the TUST Militants - So far TUST Leader Mike Thomas has taken some tentative steps towards positioning TUST away from it's more confrontational, radical, and aggressive approach that we're all familiar with. These minor changes have, so far, been tolerated by the Hard Left. But just how far does Thomas feel he can push things, or how brave is he prepared to be, knowing the considerable clout the Left Wing of his movement still wields ? If the outcome of this meeting goes the way many of us hope, it will be critical that it is communicated in the right way. While the Militants are unlikely to be fully pacified, a Hard Left breakaway 'REAL TUST' is the last thing we want to see happen. So much rests upon tomorrow. The great and the good wish TUST well. And I'm sure the majority of TFF members will be dearly wishing for a positive outcome also.

simonb Ha, typical of the Snowflake generation, whenever they're out of bed before 9.30am. But I shouldn't jump to conclusions as it could just indicate that simonb is a TUST member, and has had a sleepless night worrying about what this historic day might bring forth for his organisation #cooperatingwithClarke #GITust

Please don't mention the Snowflake generation! What's the latest thing they are being offered, £10000 when they reach 25! Hey, I've got a radical idea, why don't they get off they're arses and work for it! Speaking of arses, I suppose the next thing that will happen, is when one of the SG (nothing to do with Dave on the other site...who I still owe a pint ) has a dump, someone will have to go round and wipe their arse! And people wonder why I call this country a shithouse! It goes without saying, that none of the above was directed at simonb, who I'm sure is a conscientious and hard working person who attends church every Sunday.

Please don't mention the Snowflake generation! When I was a teenager, it really pissed me off when old farts went on about "the youth of today". Thankfully, it still does. If I ever go that way, please shoot me.

The term snowflake is, however, being bandied about to anyone who has a sense of decency or compassion, usually by those with political tendencies to the right of Enoch Powell.
Care about the fate of child refugees? That must mean you’re soft and therefore a snowflake.
Actively state that racism is wrong? Then you must be a snowflake who takes offence at ones right to spew fascist bile.

In 1945 he voted Labour and although he did then go on to join the Conservative Party by 1974 he had turned his back on the Conservatives and he endorsed a vote for Labour, which is thought to have been very influential in the Labour victory as Mr Powell was popular amongst all strands of society but mainly the poorer working class traditionally Labour voters. He was one who was not afraid to confront difficult issues and always clearly put forward his views. Not many of them about now, Kenneth Clark perhaps being one of the few exceptions.
