Not wishing to be branded a "thicko" or a "whinger" but surely if the lone striker is isolated then it's better to get someone playing off him Ok OK I'm an old fashione beats longing for good old 4-4-2 !!! I do think the manager is being slightly disrespectful to the supporters in certain remarks and after all don't we pay cold hrd cash to witness this which in turn may be used to meet salaries ?? Or am I bing think again Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I'll get me coat

I don't think Ling is being disrespectful at all, after all I'd quite happily be more plain speaking to them when I have the misfortune to be sat or stood near some half-wit moaning thingy. I do wonder whether the few (and it is a tiny minority) have noticed that Buckle went up the M5 nearly 18 months ago! I can't blame Bucks for swapping the home and away dug-outs, this last 5 years has brought plenty of winning football and some decent and competitive teams. Perhaps if people want to help then they could offer their services to the club in the rebuilding work of the training ground or as a helper on a matchday rather than offering their pearls of wisdom to a UEFA Pro licensed coach.
In seriousness, it is the same old problem and I wonder why these people bother coming along. I think it is rarer still at the away games even though we don't win away that often (although I think we do more than we did in the 90's).

We've done this one to death before, but it seems that there are two ways of looking at football.
Some seem to believe that it is quite easy to be "on the front foot" in a football match. All the manager has to do is to command it and it will be so. It is a question of tactics. The manager decides whether we dominate or not. If we don't, it is because the manager had decided not to tell the players to do it.
Others believe that both sides set out to dominate a match and it is impossible for both to do so. Sometimes we are more effective at being "on the front foot" than our opponents, sometimes we are not.
So some see it entirely as a matter of tactics, whilst some see it as a question of who plays well on the day.
Didn't we employ the same formation for the Cheltenham and Rochdale games as we did for the Plymouth and Burton games? Did Ling tell the players to sit back in the latter two games but not in the first two? Or did that just happen because we played well in the first two games and badly in the latter two?
I couldn't put my finger on exactly what went wrong against Burton. We just couldn't get hold of the ball and keep it. I think the middle three of Mansell, Easton and Morris must shoulder at least some of the responsibility for that. Bodin and Stevens were pretty anonymous. Was that because they did not get the service or was the onus on them to chase back and get the ball themselves?
Somebody did point out to me that Poke was kicking long - usually to the opposition. He had previously been throwing the ball to the back four for them to play out from the back. Was that due to a lack of confidence? Was it due to the Burton strikers being good at closing down our defenders? More questions than answers.
I'd still like to see Craig start in a more central role.
