Then I remember how much I enjoyed rediscovering the rail piffle after a long hiatus and would caution some future-proofing Sound advice. I'm heartened by two things. Firstly, I've disposed of all manner of "stuff" (mainly books) over the last 10-12 years without regret. Indeed, I feel cleansed by the process. Secondly I'm more relaxed about the programmes today than I was earlier this week when they were spread across fifteen all-too-easily-collapsible plastic boxes. They shall rest on borrowed time for the duration with people's potential requests being noted for future reference. Ah yes, those boxes of random programmes that fill makeshift club shops the length and breadth of the country; I was looking at Aberystwyth's selection only last week. I'm relieved to say I am never tempted. My time for bulk purchasing was around 1971-73 when bundles arrived in brown paper parcels from as far afield as Glasgow, Southend and the Wirral. All purchased with the aid of postal orders from the sub-post office on Park Road, St Marychurch. I hope they received a direct share of the poundage. Railways? I believe I was genetically very close to being an obsessive. Instead I show a healthy passing interest. I do like the Deutsche Bahn logo which accompanies the Farmer's Friend's posts.

Thankfully, although I sold a couple of items of railwayana that I now slightly regret, I hung on to the haulage records, the rail atlas and most of the other junk and it now means even more to me than it did back in 1992. My railway phase spanned from the late 70s until the early 80s when the diesels where starting to dissapear. Great memories of travelling the length of the country trespassing on railway property to get to the maintenance sheds. Inevitably then being ordered off the premises by the foreman but by that time you had clocked a host of numbers ! Definitely regret throwing all my railway stuff away years ago including meticulous haulage records David Allen books and most missed hundreds of 35mm colour slides. It is great to see that so many diesels have been lovingly restored and running excursions the length and breadth of the country.

I have a large pile of Gulls programmes from the 60s (around 150 I would guess) to dispose of if anyone's looking for any particular ones. Seasons range from 1962-1969, nearly all homes with a handful of aways (Exeter, Argyle, Bournemouth and a couple of the London clubs, I think), most in good condition, some less so, and a fair few have team changes written inside.
Let me know of any 'wants' and I'll see if I've got a copy. Not interested in cash for them. Will give it a few weeks, then probably put the lot on eBay.
PM or reply if interested.
Cheers.
