FAT4R: Hereford v Torquay United 3pm 13/01/24

We can name seven subs for this, but will struggle to name five.

We can put school kids on the bench, but would be wary of actually playing any. Hereford are no Frome.

Of last week’s 16, we know we have lost Archer as he is cup-tied. You would think Marshall and Collins would be doubtful. Moxey and De Silva looked less than 100%.

Of the bench, Hall was far from match-fit. More likely ready for 20-30 minutes off the bench than 60-70 minutes from starting.

With Crowe gone, we have seven on the injured list. None will be match fit, but could one or two be on the bench anyway?

Will we have a last minute signing or two? Joe Mason through our Calgary connection is a possible experienced head up front. A youngster on loan?

Temptation will be great to start a not-match-fit Hall or Lapslie or even give them a half each. The midfield needs that badly, but it is more important to manage their return to league action properly.

Could be just one change with Collins moving inside to complete a lightweight midfield with McGavin and Jenkins Davies and Dan Martin wide on the left. Even that needs Marshall and Collins fit.

I would rest Moxey and give Thomas a game in normal circumstances, but think we need all the help we can get to avoid a thrashing - so expect Mox to start leaving Thomas and Lovett on the bench with a selection of kids and unfit players.

I am not really worried whether we win or lose. I do hope we avoid humiliation though. We will need to be much better than the last two games to “achieve” that.
