Another convincing home performance which sees us 6 points better off than we were after 14 games last season when we finished in the play-off places. If we can stop looking like a bunch of penguins on tranquilizers away from home we have every chance of this being third time lucky in the promotion stakes. Looking forward to another storming home win against Morecambe followed up by the penguins metamorphosing into swordfish and putting both Barnet and Oxford to the sword in successive away games

Hard to see how there can be so many complaints tbh. If you sat through the turgid affairs that were Plymouth, Burton & the majority of Aldershot (who lets face it, couldnt seemingly buy a win till last night, yet held a 3 goal lead against us), it would be quite fair to moan about our performances and contemplate finding something more interesting to do with your time (thats without adding in our away performances which have been pretty shocking have they not?). Of course, you would then have missed performances like Accy and last night, although to be picky, the first half wasnt much to write home about apart from a couple of fluffed chances. Our attacking prowess seemed somewhat lacking, no coincidence that our goals came from a cross into the box and a long(ish) range effort by a fullback. I thought Bodin was below par again, Danny was a bit better but neither looked able to cause the defence much in the way of problems. Lathrope and Manse turned in excellent ball-winning performances as did the back four (apart from 1 mix up!!). Pokey was also in good form. Whilst Craig may look promising as an OKane replacement, there were times last night he looked like a fish out of water in the midfield. Considering their record this season, I expected a lot more threat from Gillingham but they didnt really look up for it, something you wouldnt expect from a "maddog" team.

I think you are being a bit harsh there Ditty. Thought both halves were entertaining last night and we had numerous chances that we didn't score from. Both goals had an element of luck to them but were the result of sustained pressure in the second half, probably something Gillingham have not been used to this season. Gillingham's solitary goal came from a defensive mistake but I'm sure no one is suggesting they have a lack of attacking prowess.....

All a matter of opinion. I thought Gillingham were the better side in the first half and we were the better side in the 2nd. I was a bit suprised that a team (supposedly) running away at the top didnt seem to look "up for it". The fact that our back five had an excellent game (apart from the mix up for their goal!!) meant their attacking prowess was certainly blunted (suprised Kedwell played no part in the game, a masterstroke by MadDog lulling us into a false sense of security ) and Manse and Damon got through a lot of work breaking up their attacking attempts.

Yep, wouldn't disagree with that!

Another very poor gate is a cause for concern. I missed this excellent display by only a week!

Another very poor gate is a cause for concern. I missed this excellant display by only a week! Alas FG, with winter drawing in, a midweek fixture and the visitors travelling from Kent it was always going to be a low gate
