At the top of Colley End Road in Paignton many years ago we used to play football in what we called "the Donkey Field'. The photo above shows where the legendary and much loved field was. The question is why was it called the Donkey field? Did 'Donkey Daniels' keep his donkeys here?

I don't know why it was called Donkey Field but that's my first house in Paignton.
We moved from Brixham in 1977 and had the house on the left. It is the last house in Clifton Road where it meets Colley End Road. It was a great location, just far enough away from the town but close enough as well. It put me in striking distance of my favourite summer location, Pontins South Devon Holiday Camp on Kings Ash Hill.
My brother and I used to walk just up the road and play football in Primley Park

I have done a number of searches Phil and asked everyone I know In Paignton and not come up with an answer yet. There must be some pictures somewhere that show the field before the houses were built on it. I will keep looking.

We moved to QED in '79. Can't remember a field there and as my brother didn't play football, I used to walk down into town to meet my mates all the time for footy. I spend a lot of my Summer on Pontins also as Mum used to be a Chaletmaid!
Nice quick bit of nostalgia with g**gle maps on the back of this though, so thanks.
