[Dont panic Mr Mainwaring!!!......I dont think we really could expect too much from these last 2 games. Keep the faith Quite right, and keep turning up too, Pete. The BBC has given tonight's attendance as 1,178. Not right, surely? There will be at least two more of us at Rochdale anyway, since Barton Downs and I will be there to, hopefully, see the return of Rene and a welcome three points.

Distinct lack of pace in the team again then (apart for Danny L) yeoman has pace Not enough to escape the clutches of a defender on tonight or saturdays showing

Thanks, James. It's still not great, though. Even my cheery optimism wanes a bit when I see a figure like that. Good job I shall be down for the Wycombe match (and Port Vale if we make it in time) because the club could do with my £20. Better buy a programme and some chips too.

Further to that, lowest attendance since 1,514 turned up on March 1st 2011 against Rotherham (funnily enough)

Well done Chris we need a couple more thousand like you. Ill be over for a chip! It does appear that we are having a bit of a crisis. For the first time the board are having to deal with a crisis on the fall rather than one on the rise which is so much easier to deal with. With only ever the bare minimum of information coming out of the club It will be interesting to see if they have the inclination or indeed will to respond.

I owe you a chip, Pete, and I think it's my turn to buy the sweets too.

Well, the first half was evenly matched with a few nicely worked attempts at goal, those on target being straight at the keeper though. Benyon replaced Craig at half time, moving up front with Yeoman moving to the right wing slot. We still looked a match for them till the defence got caught a bit on the break and we conceded the first (off Pokes side from what i could tell). That our usually reliable defence had an off day getting caught out by quick breaks again is unusual. Macklin replaced Yeoman and as on Saturday looked a lot more threatening with our first shot on target of the 2nd half (blocked by a 3 defenders). He linked well with Danny L but several times where they both had space to run the ball into dangerous positions the right side was ignored and the ball played straight forward for Jarvis to try and win in the air. Benyon looks perhaps just a little short of practice but considering the time hes had to get used to the team he was bound to. He came the closest to scoring the only time he got the ball in a dangerous area but it flashed just wide. Then, with the 4th official holding the board up with 4 minutes extra time, Bodin was trying to get to the ball before it ran out for a goal kick only to be impeded by a defender from behind. Im not sure he would have got to it but that was bad judgement by the defender. He put the penalty in off the post and could this be another remarkable comeback? Answer no to that as they broke down the other end straight away catching the defence on the hop and got the third. We still resorted to popping it long too often for Jarvis to try and win in the air. We have buckets of pace with Danny L and Macklin on the right so use them and get the ball into danger areas for Benyon/Howe/Jarvis (or whatever combination)...

It's frustrating to hear that we are still knocking it long when clearly this does not work, even less so with smaller players like Jarvis and benyon. Are we told to play this way? Do we panic? Do we just not have the ability and so resort to hitting it long? When we have pace on the pitch we have to get it wide and use it as said above....

I suppose to be fair Brizzle, quite often the long ball was cleared from defence. Its all very well saying (me included) stop hitting long balls forward but if you're a defender and you've got an attacker closing you down, you're gonna look a right chump if you get dispossessed trying to control the ball to make a pass.

cheer up you miserable feckers. the conference wasn't such a bad place. regardless of the league we are in, we are still Torquay United fans. I'll be there next season regardless of the division. after 37 years, what's to get so upset about?

Fair point ditmar, easy for us to say what they should do from the sidelines eh? Hey Ho, on to the next game!
