After a decent performance on Saturday where we missed our leading goal scorer, we now have an old favourite back with a chance to resurrect both his career and our season. We also have our old nemesis in Steve Evans and with his number 2, probably the most disliked management team that we are to face. True to form, Evans had a few choice words for the ref in their match against Burton where another former Torquay striker, Billy Kee scored a brace but in a match where two Rotherham players got sent off - never happen for us! So Rotherham are on 46 points from 29 games in ninth position, probably below expectations for the club and the relative spending power of the two clubs. The two players unavailable are David Noble and Michael O'Connor and the BBC match preview reckons that Kari Arnason will move up from defence, allowing Claude Davis, a recent signing from Crawley to return. Top scorer from Rotherham is Daniel Nardiello with 14 goals although he faces a late fitness test. Next is former Gulls loanee, Pringle with seven, a player that will need watching. Finally another recent signings that Evans has made is Jordan Slew, a youngster on loan from Blackburn who plays as a striker. Now that we have gone down the Benyon route, which is not a like for like replacement for Rene, I think it is likely that he will start which probably prevents Craig returning to the middle which is IMO a shame. The problem with Saturday's line up is that we had no striker to bring on and at least with have got that option on the bench. Macklin certainly didn't do himself much harm with a couple of penetrating runs and may be in contention to start. I quite liked the makeup of the right wing late on in the game as with Leadbitter there we had a lot of pace and stretched play, something we haven't done of late. Oastler may well be fit for this one though, so Ling/Taylor will have to make a decision in that respect. We have won against Exeter; if we can do the same against a Steve Evans side then things will be definitely looking up in more ways than one!

Rovrum were having a light training session on the beach this afternoon. They look a pretty big unit (as the saying goes) as do Evans teams usually. I think its going to be quite a physical battle tomorrow so would tend towards Mansell and Easton in the centre midfield or it will probably be overrun. Pace is going to be a necessity so hopefully Macklin on the right wing and Danny to remain at RB. Walked right past Raynor yet the hound didnt even growl or bare her teeth at him. She obviously need some more training on how to spot a sc**bag...

On another note, just as well your dog didn't bite Raynor, she could have caught rabies!!!

They were training on the beach again this morning. Where's a tidal wave when you need one They still look a big, physical side so I think a battling performance is certainly going to be needed tonight!!!

Full-time Torquay 1 Rotherham 3. Serious problems everywhere, on and off the pitch. Listening to the commentary the second half sounded awful littered with mistakes all over the pitch. Even our defence sounded terrible! Our only goal late on from the penalty spot. Crisis time! You can't even say, "sort it out, Ling". He's not here!

Oh dear the Lincoln City esq implosion created by our current management coinciding with a season long abandonment of investing in the squad is set to continue it seems. Still the rot has set in once again and writings been on the wall for a good while now and may be in a minute somebody will realise that new stands, fancy training grounds, giant tv screens even hard work and commitment is no substitute for class and genuine quality on the pitch and ignoring the fact will eventually catch up with you. In the mean time we will continue to sink and support will continue to just drift away. How many braves were there tonight? Oh hang on a minute we still have a game in hand. Renes back at the weekend and we can at least score from the penalty spot! I just hope Taylor has some honest views or maybe it will be "Thats possibly the best we have played this season and even last!" Cant wait.

Just in from work and seen the score, for some reason I really thought we might get something from this one, very disappointed. The fact that this run of results is coupled with an absent manager who nobody knows is returning is doubly concerning. I'm not sure I want to use the word crisis but we are certainly heading for one if this continues. The player's confidence must be rock bottom and there is clearly more than a whiff of uncertainty around the place, worrying times. In terms of ling, I wish him all the best, his health is paramount and more important than football. Even if he does recover soon, can't think he will be firing on all cylinders this season and despite his refusals, Taylor can probably use some help.
