We didn't get that striker they said we were going to get anyway. But the problem is this was/is an ideal time to play York Shame about the extra striker not coming but if Rene plays today (assuming the game is on) like he played against them Northern gets last Tuesday we should be fine. Same team to start today as last Tuesday? What sort of form has Cresswell been in recently?

What sort of form has Cresswell been in recently? Pretty bad, to be frank. Certainly no-one at Bramall Lane is shedding any tears about the old codger going back to York. Argyle are going to have a game in hand on us this evening, I reckon, because it's a white out here in Sheffield and unless Chesterfield has its own tropical micro-climate (which it certainly did not yesterday) that match is almost certainly going to be postponed.

paulr That's good to know, and surely the pitch shouldn't deteriorate too much between now and 3pm. Quite what state it will be in after 15 minutes of play or at full time doesn't bear thinking about.
I'm hoping we can at least stretch the unbeaten run to four and if we can get a further 3 points into the bargain that would be the icing on the cake.
Nigel Worthington was blessed with little natural ability as a player yet clocked up 338 appearances for Wednesday during one of their most successful spells. Hard work and determination were the cornerstones of his game and I'm sure he'll eventually get his team demonstrating those same values. A battle in the mud today perhaps rather than exhibition football ?
Aaron Downes has had an exceptional season and will rightly be in contention for the Player Of The Season Award, but I've had a word in Alan Knill's ear and told him that he has to keep MacDonald in the side for this match. I doubt very much that he'd act contrary to my advice.

I fancy us for the win today, and on reports of Tuesday's performances I fancy us for a comfortable victory. I can only go on reports from Tuesday though because I wasn't there due to a lack of spondoolicks!!!
But I am there today, and surely today is the day we send out a clear message that we are too good to go down!!!
I have no child today, he is ill so I get to go on the Pop with the lads for a change..... Happy days!!!
I mean get well soon son....

Two teams fighting a gladiatorial battle for their league existence in a sea of mud, so much for a passing game. Should make interesting viewing. Brings back uncomfortable memories of the Wimbledon match on New years day when player struggled to dig the ball out of the "quick sand" near the players tunnel. A stark moment when It was hugely apparent that we would be in for a struggle though even I couldn't have imagined it would end in such desperate circumstances.
Just a couple of weeks ago the pitch looked to be recovering well from the Winter (Autumn, Summer) deluge and our form coincidentally returned. I hope its not an omen of some kind with the torrential rain and dark skies that have seemingly hung over South Devon for the last twelve months reflecting the form and mood of our treasured football club. Time for some long blue sky days and a change in fortune. I hope so. To the game pretty sure Knill will stick with the team that did so well on Tuesday though York will be a different kettle of fish. Again we must be pro active in getting forward early on, gain the initiative and pose a threat and cause some uncertainty. Its what won us the game on Tuesday so I expect more of the same. No guarantees mind and York will have their own plan of attack that may put us on the back foot. York also have a pretty good away record so must be getting something right. Heart desperately wants another win head says a draw with both sides giving the other nothing in an epic "mud bath" of a battle.

For some strange reason your first vote showed up as 01 then when you got a second vote it showed up as 011. I have reset it to three.

an epic "mud bath" of a battle. Just like football used to be when I was a lad. Marvelous, isn't it?

I get the feeling that the pitch will be a great leveller today and just hope York dont get lucky with a defender slipping over at the worst possible time or something similar
