Can anybody elaborate on this local football news story? Sorry Brian I missed this post when you put it up, I had written a post on the subject and will add it onto this thread. Buckland Sack Anthony Lynch I was very surprised to learn this week that Buckland has sacked their manager, the SDL forum has been very interesting to read this week and claims have been made that Mr Lynch has been stabbed in the back by the club. Lynch was so well know during his playing days as a very prolific goal scorer, there was once talk that our club were even considering signing him. That never happened and while he has only come on as a sub in some of the Buckland games I have watched, he always looked like he had more goals still in him. He was due to start an eight match ban; its no real surprise if you had ever seen him in action from the dug out, to be fair to the man there has been some terrible refs at Homers Heath this season that has cost the team so many lost points. But his passion and love of the club was there to be seen by everyone and no one can complain with how well the club is doing in its first season of the Western League. Buckland are no longer the big fish in the small pond and were never likely to be running away with the league title this season, but they have adapted reasonable well to the higher league and in time should do well in it as long as they want to remain playing at that level. I happen to believe they needed to move up to the Western league, it all became to easy for them in the league they were playing and if the club really wanted to move forward, then moving up to the Western league was the right way to go. While the costs to compete in that league are bound to be higher due to so much extra travelling, gate money was very unlikely to go up and was probably the main reason they took so long to make that decision. It seems the reserve team manager Adam Castle has been given the job; he has no experience of managing at this level but has done a good job as the manager of the reserve team. Some seem to think he is a very good man who deserves this chance; others seem to have a strong dislike for him. It does seem that a good number of the current Buckland players are planning to leave the club at the end of the season, (maybe Tiverton who has just won their very first game of the season recently might like one or two of them) so me might have to build a completely new side for next season. Not to sure what is happening to Plainmoor favourite Tom Kelly, who has been Mr Lynch’s right hand man at Buckland, I would have thought with his knowledge and experience, he would have been the perfect choice to replace Anthony Lynch. I was saddened to read that some people are now saying that Buckland as a club has become a poison chalice, I hope that is not the case as it has always had a good image as far as I’m concerned. As a club it has come such a long way from the days it played its football on a local park.

Dave you have seen over recent weeks what crap goes on that particular forum, and maybe shouldn't take to much what's said at face value, no doubt you will pay us a visit before the end of the season, so when your up next ask the question, no ones hiding anything. Brian you also know lots of people up the club, if I see you up there at all I will answer anything you need to know.
So I'm told lynchy and TK have been understanding of the clubs descion and TK came to the game on Thursday and said goodbyes to everyone, still a professional that way, he said he's been in football long enough and no doubt will be back in it soon. Lynchy stayed around tues and did the same, no throwing toys out the pram, and Internet slayings from these 2, both top blokes who won't be out the game long. Adam I think deserves his chance, thou not managed at western lge, has been a successful manager locally for nearly 10 years, let's not forget this was lynchys first managerial role.
Time will tell, and maybe if we can get TUFC to commit to a pre season friendly it will give a chance see how well we could do next year, I predict we may lose 3 maybe 4 players, but don't think that will be down to footballing reasons, but very very confident will see more than 4 replacing them, onwards and upwards.

Hi jimmydunnegod, Yes I’m well aware of what gets written on that forum and you will know the reasons I felt the need to post on it last month. I think very highly of the club and the people who run it and do not think personally anything has been done that's underhand, or any back stabbing has taken place.
One can only hope it turns out to be the right decision and only time is going to tell us that one way or the other. If Buckland has a game after we finish our season, then I will pop over and come and cheer my second team on.

Dave, Don’t take too much notice of the garbage you read on that forum. The majority of Posters who choose to slag off Buckland are either jealous of the clubs achievements or envious of the people who have managed to become part of it!
My opinions are well known. As of last week, the clubs ‘first team players’ were effectively in a league of their own. I just hope with a change of regime, the new manager has the balls to insist players sign for the club and are all prepared to play at a level asked of them. But whether they would be able to do this and attract players capable of getting results in the Western League is debatable?
It will be interesting to see how things pan out.
