Low key stuff - 2,500 watched the first leg at Twerton; nearer 3,500 the return at Plainmoor - but worthy of comment because it's not every day that Torquay United beat a team from the second tier of English football. Rovers, remember, had just had a fantastic season when they pipped Bristol City to the third division title.
And, of course, this was the start of the new era at Plainmoor: Mike Bateson, Dave Smith, Wes Saunders, Tommy Tynan. Exciting times and thanks for this one, Timbo.
