If Anthea Redfern is a name from ancient history for me, she must be a positively prehistoric reference for younger readers. It's worth reading her Wiki article if only to giggle about Anthea being born in Newton Abbot. Good grief, she didn't even have the decency to enter the world in Torquay. And, bloody hell, she's even older than Merse.
The Wiki article also makes Anthea sound like potential "romantic interest" for Malcolm Allison. I wonder?
And wasn't she a convent girl? Croft Lodge I believe. I'm sure Mr_W will have knowledge of the room layout there.

It's worth reading her Wiki article if only to giggle about Anthea being born in Newton Abbot. Don't take what you read on Wikipedia as gospel. "Newton Abbot" was the registration district that covered Torquay until 1968 when "Torbay" became a registration district. So lazy researchers would have me down as a Newtonian - something I vigorously deny. Anthea looked more of a Torquay girl than a Newton girl - and she didn't have a Northern accent.
