After a relatively gentle warm up match we get to the serious business of pre-season with our only match against league opposition and our final game at Plainmoor before the league opener so just maybe there will be a good crowd. Pricing is a tenner or quid for kids.
Good to see a new face on Friday with Harding playing and after signing should play a more prominent role and will be telling how he fares against Championship opposition. If reports are correct, another new face or two may be at the match with emphasis surely on a big centre forward and an established centre back.
Yeovil are looking to make the step up to the championship after years of struggling in league 1 and should provide a bigger test than in recent friendlies. Activity of note includes whisking away Jordan Robertson away for a trial before dumping him for not being fit enough for them and signing Kieffer Moore whom a number of fans would have liked to see wear yellow.
Not a match that we would be expected to win but I hope to see signs of how Knill is looking to set up the side and cause them a few problems.

Torquay 2-0 Yeovil
After surviving Yeovil's first half storm Torquay turned on the style to win in the end a comfortable 2-0 victory. After Yeovil hit the post and Tonge brillantly denies a header from a Yeovil corner heading the ball onto the bar. With the help from subs, Torquay turned the game around and made their breakthrough around 85 minutes when Chappell pounced on a Yeovil defender slip to calmly slot past Yeovil's keeper Marek Stech. Deep in to stoppage time young striker Danny Sullivan got onto a underhit hit backpass to calmly take around Stech to make it 2-0. Match Attendence 1,177 (111 away).
Player Ratings
GK: Martin Rice 7/10 Made some good saves but was lucky not to concede from 1st half attacks as he stayed on his line from crosses.
RB: Dale Tonge 8/10 Strong in the tackle and read the game well. Perfect Rb, far better than Oastler.
CB: Shaun Cooper: 7/10 Was quiet but soild, don't know if he is ready for the first team yet but he will be.
CB: Aaron Downes: 9/10 Amazing blocks, headers and tackles. Not much more to say apart from he is my man of the match.
LB: Tom Cruise: 8/10 Very soild and made some cruical blocks and interceptions.
RM: Courtney Cameron: 8/10 Close to getting man of the match, he was a big handful for the full back. He looks like he is going to be special.
CM: Ben Harding 7/10 Wasn't involved that much but was soild and very strong.
CM: Lee Mansell 7/10 Typical game did some great blocks sometimes a bit careless in possession but did more good than bad.
LM: Billy Bodin 6/10 He is getting better did one great bit of skill but his finishing wasn't great and didn't really make a massive impact.
ST: Scott Rendell 5/10 Only disapointment of the day. He didn't have great service but looked quite sluggish and slow.
ST: Elliot Benyon 7/10 Quiet in the first half but a lot better in the second, had a good header saved in second half.
Subs
LB: Kevin Nicholson 7/10 Looked soild when he came on for Cruise.
CM : Damon Lathrope: 6/10 Came on quite late but he looked pretty soild.
LM: Jordan Chappell 8/10 Scored first goal and looked quick and sharp. Showed he can score.
ST: Ashley Yeoman N/A Didn't get any service when he came on, looked quite quiet.
RM: Naill Thompson 8/10 Showed amazing pace, dribbling and crossing when he came on. Completly left Yeovil's LB for dead and a great cross for Benyon, whose header was saved.
CM: Nathan Craig 7/10 Didn't attack much but his passing and his corners were great.
CB: Kirtys MacKenzie: 7/10 Looked soild when he came on, did do an awkward back pass for Rice at one stage which was dealt with luckily.
ST: Daniel Sullivan 8/10 Scored and showed good work rate. Not the strongest or tallest but puts himself about.
Subs not used: Jake Hutchings and Conor Thompson (GK)

Great post Sam and wouldn't disagree with much that you said although I think Hutchings did sneak on late for Tonge.
I don't think many would have predicted a two nil home win or indeed that Sullivan would get on the scoresheet but that is the beauty of the game.
First surprise was seeing Rendell in the starting line-up, we all know what he can do and indeed on the back of his season for us attracted serious money and also scored the winner against Norwich in the FA cup this year. Perhaps not up to speed fitness wise?
Very impressed with Knill's signings so far, liked the look of both Cameron and Tonge with Harding looking composed on the ball and able to pick a good pass and should provide a good combo with Manse. Thought that Downes was the stand out performer in defence and hence Cooper wasn't too prominent.
As for the match, perhaps rode our luck at times in the first half but held our own and had some chances. In the second were able to exert more pressure with both goals coming from defensive mistakes. Hardly seems fair bringing on both Chappell and Thompson late on but both were able to stretch the defence and cause problems....
