Another cracking programme, Timbo. Once again you have achieved the goal of keeping us all onside with a programme from the sixties. I read this in the corner of my living room while Mrs Felix tackled the job of feeding the cats and then passed me my bottle of wine. In fact I have been so lazy it's a wonder she didn't give me a direct free kick.

A Hull City programme. That’s a rare treat. And a win too on my fifth birthday. I was probably enjoying myself at the fire station’s kids’ Christmas party which would have been around then. That’s the new fire station on Newton Road, as opposed to the old one on Market Street, if anybody is in doubt. Nothing flash about the programme cover. Simple and straightforward but with a tiger of course. Rugby league on the half-time scoreboard down at Y and Z. Once, when I was at Boothferry Park, I heard the locals sing: “we hate rugby league; we hate rugby league; we hate rugby; we hate rugby; we hate rugby league!” I wonder when that one started? A board full of Needlers. They often had big plans for the club but it never really happened. “She scored a goal with her cooking”. How droll. Go electric! And what’s this about trunk services? Isn’t there a Hull Trunk Theatre? No, on second thoughts, I’ve got that wrong. Truck, yes, truck. Problems with the kick-off time for the cup-tie against Darlington. You can never check these things too many times. The second replay was at Leeds. “C U at Leeds” – early text talk from the city of the white telephone box? And guess what? It was a draw. Hull’s FA Cup run that season: 1 SUTTON TOWN [ASHFIELD] H 3-0 2 DARLINGTON A 1-1 2r DARLINGTON H 1-1 2r2 DARLINGTON N 1-1 @ Leeds United 2r3 DARLINGTON N 0-0 @ Doncaster Rovers 2r4 DARLINGTON N 3-0 @ Middlesbrough 3 BOLTON WANDERERS H 0-1 www.fchd.info/HULLC.HTM

...and a three course luncheon for 3s 6d? That wasn't a bad deal, was it? That's 17 and a half pence to you youngsters.
