I suppose that this is a useful competition in that it gives the reserves a good run out. This match is also significant in that Pokey is mooted to make his return in a match for the first time this season. I also know that some would like to see some changes and once again it is an opportunity for someone to use this match to cruise into the first team starting XI on Saturday.
I can't make either this or Saturday's game so would really appreciate some good match reports, not bad value for this one at three pound per head or a quid for concessions!

Doubt it. See you in the Bench. Ok but not too high up - gives me a pain in the neck.

0-0 half time with Torquay being well on top, Craig and Lathrope running things

A 4-1 victory with goals from Lathrope Sullivan 2 and Cameron. We went 1-0 down after odofin passed to their forward and within 2 minutes we were in front with a drive from Lathrope and a great run from Sullivan. Then cruise provided for Sullivan and Cameron chipped in with a curling shot that the keeper got a hand to but couldn't keep out.

Plenty of Twitter updates tonight - sounded like we dominated and were a bit unfortunate to go behind (old habits die hard, I guess). Granted, it was only Ilfracombe, but it's another knock on the door from the likes of Cruise, Lathrope, Sullivan and Craig

Well it was, but Sullivan always tends to drop deep to link up and offer himself for a simple pass from midfield. That makes it look more of a flexible 4-2-3-1 shape than a rigid 4-4-2. Sullivan's performance tonight was excellent - topped off with two good goals. You can't get carried away as Ilfracombe are a long long way short of League 2 standard, but it was a decent workout this evening.

Can we honestly glean any encouragement from a win against Ilfracombe. We finally find the net against some pretty lowly opposition. A Devon Bowl fixture such as this would have barely got a mention when we we had a decent first team that was performing in the main event. Is this how low we become as a football force? Maybe this is the future? Or maybe Sullivan will start on Saturday and score a hat trick! Don't think I will be holding my breath.
Looking for any glint of light at the end of the tunnel I suppose.

People attending Bowl games or reserve games have always tended to give a brief report on what went on, no matter how well or how badly the first team was doing.

One more point about last night that I forgot to mention. Alan Knill was stood on the touchline constantly bellowing detailed instructions at Tom Cruise and Nathan Craig.
An optimist might say it is good that the manager is putting so much effort into trying to coach faults out of fringe players and that it is good that the players are making an effort to take advice on board.
Pete would probably ask what on earth things have come to when we employ "professional" footballers who don't know how to play football.
We might as well give up now. We are all doomed.

Very enjoyable night, some good football, five goals, some strange topics of discussion and all for £3 (apart from that tw*t sat behind me in the second half - the stand was 80% empty for fecks sake).
