I've absolutely no recollection of that game against York being postponed. I appear to have been at Charlton v Argyle that day. My excuse is that I was living pretty close to The Valley at the time.
A couple of relatively unfamiliar names mentioned by Mike Green. I'm pretty sure Kenny Norman played in Forest Green Rovers FA Vase-winning team in 1982 before having another spell at Gloucester City. And a spot of online research reveals that Jimmy Cochrane runs a legal business in Billingham.
"We have to tighten our belts!" A recurring theme of course. A mention too of the stick given to Vince O'Keefe throughout most of his time at the club. It was bloody awful from what I remember.
And did anyone on here "get smart" and join the junior supporters section?
Changes in the commercial department - a new role for the boy from Newton Abbot - and the arrival of Andrew Taggart as club chaplain. I was later to encounter him when I needed someone to "do" my mother's funeral in the early 1990s. And a fine choice he proved.

I've absolutely no recollection of that game against York being postponed. I appear to have been at Charlton v Argyle that day. My excuse is that I was living pretty close to The Valley at the time. I must admit I would not have any idea where I was that night unless I had turned up at the ground and found the game off. The strange thing is that at the time I lived at an address Quinta Close which is less than a mile from Plainmoor and I walked down never considering that the game would be off. The absence of people gave me a clue although the clear view the whole length of Homelands Lane was of no help in getting my head around it! So I had to wander off then to the town centre as I had told my wife I was off to footie so she wouldn't have been expecting me home! Only took her 28 years to catch on as well! (who deleted all the smilies? Dave R still coming back to haunt everybody? Weird!). Mike Hickman a coach at Plainmoor at the time. Absolutely lovely man. I had the pleasure of playing alongside him for the Masons Arms in the Torbay Sunday League and also of course drinking with him in the pub of that name. Normally in a game he kept a low profile and just seemed to enjoy the company but on one occasion something must have got to him and he scored 8! After the game he insisted for newspaper report purposes all of the goals were shared out between the rest of the team! Even then I wasn't given one! (non existent smiley!!!)
