Ha! I was pretty certain Stefano had played for Devon and I nearly wrote of "a long-awaited and overdue recall to the county colours". But I couldn't be sure. Your eligibility, sir, seems to be in order. Janners are allowed. Funny you should mention that! There was recently much debate on PASOTI as to whether the word 'janner' was a term of endearment or an insult .... nearly as much disagreement as we have about cream teas!!

No Rooney or Gerrard in the England team.
Angus MacDonald played, but surprisingly was at right back. Looked quite comfortable there, but wasn't really tested. Spoke to a Salisbury fan who said he had come very close to signing for Birmingham City in the close season! How true that is I don't know, but he is a player I wouldn't mind seeing in our squad.
Tristan Plummer played, won and smacked home two penalties before being subbed at half time.
Devon also had two ex-TUFC players in Matt Villis and Dean Stevens. Chelston's second favourite striker Carl Cliff-Brown skippered the team until being subbed at half time. He looked even beefier than I remember him.
Tom Kelly and Guy Branston amongst the crowd.
A fairly even first half saw just the two penalties separate the sides. In the second half, England's class started to show and they ran out 5-0 winners. Not surprising really as all the England team (except for a second half sub from Bideford) play at steps 1 and 2 (Conference and Conference South), whilst the Devon players play at steps 3 (two Bideford lads in Southern Prem) down to step 7 (Teignmouth and Stoke Gabriel in Peninsula 1E).
I liked the look of Elliot Frear - formerly of Exeter, now at Salisbury. Looked to have a bit of quality about him. He was a constant threat down the left, producing end product rather than flattering to deceive as some wide men are wont to do.
I hope we don't have to wait until 2138 to have another go at the English.

Angus MacDonald has since gone on to play for England C and recently played in their game away to Jordan. There were several Weston-super-Mare players in the FA XI against Devon who'd come through the Weston College academy set-up headed by our former 'keeper Ryan Northmore.
