So what are the residency rules for playing for Devon? Or is it only Devonian players for Devon? Bet the Devon Defence League are all over that one - "you can't call up anyone from any foreign place, like Cornwall"

So what are the residency rules for playing for Devon? You have to pass the scone test - which explains why Chelstongull has not been selected.

Jam on first makes the most sense then the clotted cream - 'andsome Cream on first then the jam - looks untidy and unkempt like Jon's gamekeeper's assistant's assistant.

Is there any other way? The jam has to go on first to create a barrier so that the cream doesn't soak into the scone and make it soggy. Should we have a discussion about it? Has anyone got any photos to show alternative methods?

The fat goes onto bread in the form of butter. Clotted cream goes onto a scone. Jam then goes on top of either. Nuff said.

Butter, butter, butter, butter now I've heard it all I had heard of bread and butter before. It's what posh people have instead of margarine, Chelston.

I hope the Devon FA get a decent crowd for their game against an FA XI. But, at this stage, I guess that may depend on whether people can drag themselves away from discussing cream teas.
Sounds like a good old-fashioned representative fixture to me rather than an England C trial. The FA fields teams from time-to-time for special occasions and usually pulls players together from relatively close by. In this case their squad mainly comprises of players from Weston, Salisbury, Bath and Bideford. Amongst the selection named last week was the vaguely familiar name of Tristan Plummer. Years ago, when the FA played the British Universities at Taunton, I'm sure I remember Ellis Laight and Mark Loram playing in the white shirts of the FA.
Not sure about the eligibility rules for the Devon team. When the county played more regularly I think the main requirement was to pick players who had Devon associations but were not on a contract with any club. I guess for tonight they can choose whoever they like. I've heard Stefano (Ivybridge) is on standby.

Well I did play for Devon 'way back when' at a time when my legs could move further without having to stop for a rest! Eligibility was not in doubt for me. I was born in Devon (well Plymouth!), brought up in Devon (Newton Abbot), attended secondary school in Devon (Torquay), and played for a Devon club (Newton Abbot Spurs). After the conventional County trials which involved kicking a football around a football pitch, we all retired to the club house where we each had to prepare a Devon cream tea. So that was it .... I was in!

Ha! I was pretty certain Stefano had played for Devon and I nearly wrote of "a long-awaited and overdue recall to the county colours". But I couldn't be sure.
Your eligibility, sir, seems to be in order. Janners are allowed.
