A trialist from Cork? Who'd have thought it. Didn't we have one of those only last week?
A lad from the Free State. I hope the Black and Tans weren't on his case.
Meanwhile, just twelve months or so later, a baby named Francis O'Farrell was to arrive on the scene in Cork.

Was D A Roberts actually Dave Roberts of Fordsons FC of whom there is a Wiki article?
According to Wiki that Dave Roberts was English-born and had previously played for Bohemians of Dublin. He moved to Fordsons - who were the forerunners of Cork City and associated with a local Ford tractor factory - in 1925 scoring for them when they won the FAI Cup the following year.
A few years too soon to be a hero of Frank's?

I expect you are right. Michael Joyce has: David A Roberts CF born in Tipton 3 LoI "caps" Started with Shrewsbury Town then Walsall (3 league apps in 1922/23) then Bohemians He only played twice for us with the other game being against Argyle reserves at Home Park - the same opponents and ground as our 2013 Cork trialist.
