So we finally get a home game on a Saturday (well, I've not seen any forecasts for any further downpours...). Despite our relatively decent home record this season, we are now 4 home games without a win, going back to the Boxing Day draw against Bristol Rovers. Like that game, this is definitely a six-pointer, with Accrington not having entirely escaped the relegation battle despite an upturn in form since mid-November - however, they are also 3 games without a win, though 2 of those are at home, with James Beattie's side unbeaten in their last 3 away games
4 of our next 5 home games so this marks an important opportunity to get some points on the board
Team vs Bury:
Gk Marcus Bettinelli Def Peter Murphy Def Tom Aldred Def Dean Winnard Def Lee Molyneux Def Nicky Hunt Def Laurence Wilson (sent off) Mid Luke Joyce Mid Piero Mingoia For Danny Webber For Kayode Odejayi
Subs: Michael Liddle (Def), Rob Atkinson (Def), Will Hatfield (Mid), James Gray (Mid), Josh Windass (Mid), Shay McCartan (For), George Bowerman (For)
Head-to-head:
Accrington wins - 6 Torquay wins - 4 Draws - 2
Last match: Accrington 2-1 Torquay (McCallum 14; Naismith 42, 74), League Two, November 2013
Last match at Plainmoor: Torquay 3-1 Accrington (Howe pen 5; Amond 65; Bodin 67; Mansell 80), League Two, October 2012
Last/only Accrington win at Plainmoor: Torquay 0-2 Accrington (Welch 47; Roberts 73), League Two, October 2006
Torquay team from that first league encounter between the two sides:
Gk Nathan Abbey Def Lee Andrews Def Steve Woods Def Craig Taylor Def Stevland Angus Mid Martin Phillips Mid Matt Hockley Mid Adam Murray Mid Jamie Ward For Lee Thorpe For Mickey Evans
Subs: Chris McPhee (For) for Phillips (55) Lee Mansell (Mid) for Murray (56) Leo Fortune-West (For) for Evans (78)
Unused subs: Stephen Reed (Def), Darren Garner (Mid)
I'll refrain from commenting on a comparison of the abilities of that side versus the current one...

We've only lost 3 of our last 9 home league matches - we've been pretty difficult to beat. It's just that of those 6 matches we didn't lose, we've only won 1 - doesn't help that we've scored exactly 1 goal in each of our last 6 home matches. We've won more on the road but we've also lost more - we haven't drawn on the road in the league since August

Three points is a must, another defeat is unthinkable but possible if we don't turn up. More tan likely a vitrtually useless stalemate draw which Accy would be delighted with no doubt. Some worrying reports tha Joss Labadie was involved in a biting incident last Saturday. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2563439/Torquay-embroiled-biting-storm-Chesterfield-duo-claim-bitten.htmlThe last thing the club needs.

And the hits just keep on coming...I'm sure we could do without a biting incident hanging over us!
Accrington have been getting along quite nicely ( except for their last couple of games ) recently and are going to be a difficult team to beat.
Well, the old win one lose one has now gone out of the window and we have to now win both of the coming games to put us back on track, because if we don't win this one we'll need to win the next three games after that...which aint gonna happen!

It appears the biting incident is in the refs report. If it's true surely Labadie will be facing some kind of ban? One wonders, what next? Things seem to be going from bad to worse!

Can only hope it's dubious reporting/quoting. If the ref saw what he believed to be a bite, he'd have sent Joss off. If he hadn't seen anything, can't see how it will be in his report. The grey area is if he or any other official saw something that might be construed in hindsight as a biting incident, I suppose. Dunno the FA rules on this sort of thing.
I see Labadie is not referred to in the article. Here's a 'retweet' Banks made on his twitter page which still remains at the time of this post:-
Midfielder @obanks_14 tweeting image that #TUFC midfielder Joss Labadie bit him in todays match. Disgraceful from Labadie.

This could be the one that decides if we go down or not. If we capitulate at this hurdle, after going down to the Cobblers, I fear we are destined for the Conference again. Win it and we are still in with a good chance of staying up...

A lot of teams would be galvanised by this Labadie thing and would close ranks and become stronger. We on the other hand seem to be totally phased by the slightest issue. If we go a goal behind that's game over, the heads drop and the other team just sees the game out. Last Saturday was a prime example, balls up (if only the ball had been) by Poke and according to the announcer, it seemed that the entire Torquay team had a nervous breakdown.
I look forward to tomorrow with some trepidation!

We have to win this now after the Northampton debacle plus Bristol winning against Burton tonight hasn't helped. Our home for overall is dire, just TWO wins all season including cups. That's bad enough but we have only scored more than one in a game ONCE this season and that was back in September and we scored FOUR in that !!! Im sure Hargreaves and the team will be looking to repay us a bit but what will happen once they are on the pitch is anyones guess, hey, this is Torquay Utd and nobody knows. Hopefully tomorrow will be one of those days when things do go right

Something better change we need three points and badly .... And if we don't; I just hope the players are not as nervous as me right now and we can, by hook or crook, come out on top as this game could go either way. Very apprehensive....

Last season we had 37 Points after 30 games, this season 7 less. My current end of season estimated total stands at 47 Points and I have todays game as a 3-pointer! This game could be a decider.

A hammer blow - sadly our weak form seems to continue and increasingly looking desperate - not so sure we are going to hold on to League Status now as there does not appear to be anything we can do to stop slip sliding away. Sad times indeed.
