I can't be doing with Board bashing at this time. Me neither. The person quite a few like to single out for criticism on the Board is Bill Phillips, I believe. Some of them have claimed he has put nothing in. Jon has discredited that with a previous screenshot of accounting information as I recall. I know nothing about the man. But his role in our current League position is probably as minimal as my own in the grand scheme of things. Bill Phillips has not invested any money in Plainmoor Ltd. He isn't a director of Plainmoor Ltd, but he is a director of Torquay United FC. What he has done is work free of charge for the club for years. I think it's right to say he was effectively MD of the club for three seasons after Colin Lee was removed in 2010 - including two highly successful seasons both on and off the pitch. If he'd charged for his time at Colin Lee's rates, you could probably say he has put in about half a million. There are certainly people who bad mouth him. Is any of it justified? I'm not close enough to the action to comment. I will say that when you have had a "spend spend spend" culture in a business, the man who cuts that out is never popular. It seems to me that a lot of people think that Bill has single-handedly decided to ruin things by being Mr Scrooge. I would have thought that he would have been carrying out policy dictated to him by the board - and driven by expediency. Of course, I could be wrong. I think another thing that grates with some is Bill's demeanour. Again, I don't know him well enough to comment. He does come over a bit "golf club / gin and tonic / blazer" style. Such things don't really bother me, but I know some "chippy" people make up their minds to hate this kind of person without giving them a chance. Perhaps someone closer to things than me could comment more.

Perhaps someone closer to things than me could comment more. Bill is a local chap, nice guy, successful businessman and being an ex league ref/linesman, knows a bit about the game too, he's also supported the gulls through thick and thin, like the rest of us. I can only assume, as jon says, it's the tan, blazer and golf club image that winds a few people up for some bizarre reason, unlike the vast majority of the board, he puts himself out there as a bit of a front man for the club. He works for the club for nothing for heavens sake and is certainly well enough qualified in sport and business to hold such a role. Quite how anyone can deduce that our position in the league is somehow down to him is unbelievably ignorant and idiotic in the extreme. It's probably a whole host of reasons, mainly a squad full of under performers and poor players, wouldn't be a bad place to start. Exeter's board are virtually all paid...some on quite considerable sums and none of them put a penny in.

I stand corrected, and will not say anything against the board again!

Quite agree. Register, you crack on if it makes you feel any better. I keep reading elsewhere about this budget cut Knill suffered, but Is there any evidence of this other than us missing out on Cooper right at the end of pre-season? We've got him now, so I suppose our rise must be imminent.

As I've mentioned before, somebody has to be relegated and if it's us then i'm genuinely happy for all the supporters of the teams that avoided it this time. What does get me though is the total lack of anything that is coming from the team and even the management at this present time. It's this total apathy, this acceptance that we're already gone and no one seems to give a shit! If the players could just once put in a performance at home and let the crowd know that they actually do care about the club then I would feel better! What we have now though is a spiv wearing a trilby and smoking a cigar, standing next to the away team entrance on match day shouting "Roll up, roll up, roll up, come and get your three points here!"
