If I post this view on the match day thread it would just get lost in the whys and wherefores of "just another match". Today wasn't just another match, it was a defining match with huge importance. The only problem is nobody told the players or manager. I can forgive many things presented to and in front of me on a football pitch but lack of Interest, urgency and passion is hard to take when so much rests on a performance. Each and every player should surely realise the importance of the today's game from so many stand points. Individually and as an excuse for a league football team we were wanting in almost every department Headless chickens, captained by captain headless chicken himself devoid of passion, knowhow and any will to win the game and undone by simple forward play just a few minutes from the end.. This was simply one of the worst ever displays I can remember from a team that represents TUFC. We are doomed for the conference once again and will probably end up in free fall. At the final whistle many had left the ground unable to stomach such a gutless display against a poor Accrington who wil more than likely survive because they have players who want it more. So many unanswered questions. No Lathrope, No Stockley An inexperienced and naieve Wilkinson leading a toothless front line. Labadie strolling around somewhere in the middle of the park and Mansell the headless chicken who continually passed to the opposition or fluffed a simple pass into touch. Goodwin and Pearce the only bright sparks in a dismal and bleak afternoon. They looked like the only players who wanted to win the game. Shameful.. If you missed this one you were lucky it would have had you crying in your Bovril. Quite honestly there are no more hiding places and nowhere to go the options are limited we don't have one decent wing back in the club - neglect neglect neglect. Awful the lot of them. Half the squad made up of young loanees expected to do a mans job. Forget what the other sides around us did today one of them is coming with us . That's a cert. Today I was ashamed of my team. Never said that before In all my 47 odd years of support.

Very, very, very hard to come back from this. Today is the first time I have actually accepted our almost certain fate. There is a tiny part of me that still hopes whilst it is mathematically possible, that we can survive but it's diminishing by the week. I don't blame CH, he has inherited a squad that is not fit for purpose. The past two seasons have seen the club lurch from one problem to another, starting with ling's problems to allowing Taylor to babysit for too long to Knill's appointment and disastrous tenure ending with what looks like a relegation back to non league. The only silver lining is at least CH will stay on if/when we go down, he can then have one almighty clear out and start with his squad and his players next year. Apart from those half way through contracts that is! Right now it feels like this season is doomed and whoever we bring in and whatever we do it won't be enough! I'm not throwing the towel in yet but the manner of our recent defeats says more than words can. I also cannot see two worse teams than us right now. I'll still support the team but we are all now just hoping that somehow something changes, sadly I don't think it will.

I'm with you on that Bristol and will not give up hope entirely until its mathematically impossible. No name calling or witch hunt, totally pointless now and will support Hargreaves all the way but if today's match is a reflection of his motivational skills I'm at a complete loss.

After the various comments recently, I kept a tick sheet running on how many times Manse hit a pass to the opposition or out of play (as opposed to tackling with the ball bouncing away from him). I made it 2 passes cut out by the opposition and one hit out of play. The vast majority went to another torquay player, including the clearest chance from open play with a precise curling cross that Ladabie didnt manage to get much power on the header.

And naturally you that went are obviously angry and upset by the performance....and rightly so by all accounts................but whatever the scenario aim proud to be a gulls fan and always will be............and yes I still believe we will avoid the drop......am not that stupid yes it gets tougher game by game.....but we will be a league 2 club next season.....si

I must admit, today was about as bad as it gets. I've been thinking the drop was possible for a while now, even before Chris Hargreaves came in. The team has just too many really poor sub standard players which he has inherited. O'Connor had a shocker today,Cruise, Tonge, Wilkinson et al, just not up to it. Before that players like McCourt actually managed to sustain a place in the team. Petef is correct, there was not enough urgency or passion. It is just poor quality. Even players like Kevin Nicholson just seem completely out of sorts. He came on and the first three dead ball kicks he took were over hit (against the wind) and went straight to their keeper. I regret to say, (from one of the more optimistic supporters) that with our available resources we are going to go down. I will still be there though and have just looked where North Ferriby is, a new ground for me. Chris Hargreaves has inherited a crock.

Goodness...what a predicament! Hargreaves has only had six games in charge of a football team in his entire life! I think Beatty took eight games before he actually turned things around. So, what does Hargreaves do to get us out of this shite. It seems that yesterday very few people in the team actually gave a toss. Exactly what happened when we got relegated last time...we had a team of loanees that didn't give a monkies if we went down or stayed up! So what Hargreaves has to do is get rid of all the loanee dross (with the exception of Goodwin and O'Conner) and bring back our own players. Surely, Craig, Thompson and Yeoman (scorer of the best goal last season for f*ck sake) can't be any worse than what we have playing for us at the moment, and they will have bucket loads of passion and fight about them.
So awaits the imminent arrival of another loanee next week!
Also, as aussie mentions, we really have only one person on the board that actually gives a shite about the club, while the others just look for ways to not put their collective hands in their pockets!
Personally, I think the biggest mistake we made was when we spent what money we had on a new stand and new training facilities at the same time. Totally ignoring the team and now we see the results. The stand is nice but we still can't use the training facilities!
What the gate will be on Tuesday I dread to think.
I know we have been over the pros and cons of the conference, but the last time we went there we had a complete clear out of the team (which must happen again) and managed to get back-this time without the help of Theas money though! Of course the sad thing is we can't have a clear out of the board!
Oh, I forgot to add, we must also bring Downes back...how else are we going to get goals! How sad is that, we have to bring back a defender in a bid to score goals...that about sums us up really!

i said 18 months ago that the training pitch and stand investment was a big mistake,as we ignored things on the pitch, okane and olejnik were sold for a song, absolutely no re-investment in any quality on the pitch.Walked into the gulls nest at half time yesterday told my mate we were like a pub team at best,3 players out of the team were sat there, and agreed with me.Sadly it hasnt taken us long to screw it up,suffered enough of this crap, cant wait for this season and the obvious ending to materialise. Then pick and choose my games next season,no season ticket for me after many years of doing so

i said 18 months ago that the training pitch and stand investment was a big mistake Did you? I don't recall any individuals' particular stance on the Grandstand redevelopment, but if you did you were certainly in a tiny and not very vocal minority. In fact I've just had a look at the Grandstand thread and you bemoan the locals for not appreciating the club's attempts to 'move forward' and later go on to describe it as 'very impressive'. Hmmm... Walked into the gulls nest at half time yesterday told my mate we were like a pub team at best,3 players out of the team were sat there, and agreed with me Crikey, you're just right about everything aren't you!

We had NO OPTION but to replace the stand. It did not meet the requirements for changing room size etc. We had a period of grace after promotion from the BSP but that was running out. The training pitch may be a different kettle of fish in many eyes but our hands were tied on the stand (of course, we could have just left it to rot and had a 3 sided ground but im not sure that was really viable).

I would say that was a little demeaning to those on the board who actually do care about the club, and probably more than you or I ever will...
