Fleetwood arrive at Plainmoor with their promotion campaign flagging. They have won just 1 of their last 8 league games, and have not scored in their last 4 games, the last 2 of which have been 0-0 draws. But they are now entering an "easy" run of fixtures - after facing us, they play Bury, Portsmouth, Exeter and Bristol Rovers in their next 4 games. The relegation battle is definitely in their hands.
Line-up vs Newport:
Gk Chris Maxwell Def Mark Roberts Def Nathan Pond Def Alan Goodall Def Charlie Taylor Def Conor McLaughlin Mid Stewart Murdoch Mid Gareth Evans Mid Steven Schumacher Mid Antoni Sarcevic For Jamille Matt
Subs: Scott Davies (Gk), Josh Morris (Def), Stephen Jordan (Def), Alex Marrow (Mid), Jon Parkin (For), Matty Hughes (For), Mikael Mandron (For)
Head-to-head:
Fleetwood wins - 2 Torquay wins - 0 Draws - 1
Last match: Fleetwood 4-1 Torquay (Sarcevic 10, 37; Matt 62; Benyon 89; Blair 90), League Two, September 2013
Last match at Plainmoor: Torquay 0-1 Fleetwood (Parkin 26), League Two, February 2013
Other match: Fleetwood 0-0 Torquay, League Two, August 2012

fleetwood are in poor form,so expect them to beat us saturday,we have consistently played teams in poor form only to get turned over easily by them. Also i was at the game at fleetwood when they battered us without hitting top gear,we were shocking that day too

What can anybody really say about this match! I would imagine it will go like the previous ones. We'll have one or two glorious chances to score in the first half...of course we won't take them. Fleetwood will realise rather quickly that we couldn't hit a cow in the c**t with a musket, and will push forward and score...game over!
I'm sure I read somewhere that Hargreaves gave the whole team a bollocking for their attitude (don't give a shit, can't be arsed...that sort of thing) during one game and expected somewhat better during the next game...he never got it! When Hargreaves came I wasn't that worried about his lack of experience because I thought his motivational skills would be enough...I was wrong. I think the players look at him and say, who the f**k are you to give us a bollocking...what the f**k have you ever done in management!
I remember my last six months in Audley Park. I had spent my entire time there in B stream just happy to plod along, and had hoped to finish my school days like that. The powers that be weren't going to let that happen though! My last six months were spent in C stream...I had been cast down amongst the Neanderthals! If you can imagine a class full of kids (I use the term very loosely) from Hele Village and Watcombe, with the likes of Binky Milford and the kids from one family who were all named after cars! During lessons (I use that term very loosely as well) if we had one of the elder teachers we would just about get through it, if on the other hand we had a young inexperienced teacher...about three minutes is the time they lasted!
So, I think Hargreaves will turn out to be a very good manager, probably as high as the championship...will he turn out to be a good manager for us...only time will tell on that one!

Ha, Register, if you thought Audley was bad try Tweenaway in the mid 60's. Even the Plymouth and Exeter schools trembled. Anyhow, this could be an interesting match and if an escape is on it must start here. Whilst I am not note for the accuracy of my predictions as recently (and perhaps a little unkindly) pointed out to me by gullone, I reckon we will be in for a good game with a devil may care attitude shown by the players. I would expect a gung ho approach rather than caution. You make your own luck a lot of the time. I have bemoaned the fact that luck hasn't been on our side much (the Morecambe goal, many nasty deflections etc) and it should even itself out and why not in the last 10 or so games. Expect fireworks and a 3-1 victory for the Gulls.

Seems to be the script over the past few games. From the back page of this weeks HE "Eight wins from 13 games - that's the target manager Chris Hargreaves has set his players to keep Torquay United in the Football League"<<Shakes Head>>

With 7 wins from 33 games on the board how can anybody realistically think we can finish the season on 8 from 13 games. My end of season points prediction is at 45 points, probably too optimistic.

Strangely enough, if you look at our remaining fixtures, there are eight games we could possibly win there...including the game on Saturday against Fleetwood! Trouble is, are the fire-eaters and Samba dancers going to be enough of a kick up the arse to the players to actually make them do what they are paid for...PLAY FOOTBALL!

Thats it ! I now realise - we have purposely lost those last three games and will lose a the next five ON PURPOSE just to lull the reams above us into a false sense of security. They will of course think we are certs to go down but little do they realise that we will win our last eight games and stay up. Its so bloody obvious Greavsy already admitted these are the tactics by saying it doesn't matter who we play we can win against any team in this division. Very clever thinking Mr Hargreaves! Ha hahaaaaaaaaaa (demented laughter of a madman)

Yes, That was some run in in 2006. In the final game of that season Woods, Taylor, Kuffor, Hill, Hockley, they seem superstars compared to what we have on offer now. Who can step up to the mark to battle like that team did. Still think we will do it Saturday.

I can sense the excitement on here is reaching fever pitch for this match... or NOT! My son still fancies going so it looks like I'm getting roped into it. It's a nice sunny day so I will sit in the Family Stand with very low expectations. Can Enoch produce something and everything click into place? I doubt it but at least I will make an effort to support our local team in this desperate season.

God knows why but I'm going today . Nothing has changed has it so I must be truly mad. Last few games as a football league club I guess that's why. Stand by for an honest appraisal at 5pm...
