Mansfield's defeat at home to a Jamie Cureton-inspired Cheltenham side on Monday ended a 7-match unbeaten run, which has seen them move out of the relegation zone and into the top half of the table. The team is very physical, particularly in attack, and are a serious aerial threat. Going to bleak Field Mill, situated on a hill above the town, and being bombarded by long balls is going to be a test of our nerve in this situation, and of the clearing skills of whichever centre-back pairing Hargreaves selects
Line-up vs Cheltenham:
Gk Lewis Price Def Ritchie Sutton Def Martin Riley Def Ryan Tafazolli Def James Jennings Def Darryl Westlake Mid Sam Clucas Mid Anthony Howell Mid Adam Murray Mid Jamie McGuire For Matt Rhead
Subs: John Dempster (Dep), Louis Briscoe (Def), Lee Stevenson (Mid), Colin Daniel (Mid), Jake Speight (For), Lindon Meikle (For), Ollie Palmer (For)
Head-to-head:
Mansfield wins - 31 Torquay wins - 18 Draws - 19
Last match: Torquay 0-0 Mansfield, League Two, October 2013
Last match at Field Mill: Mansfield 0-1 Torquay (Benyon 87), FA Cup, November 2010
Last league match at Field Mill: Mansfield 1-1 Torquay (Duffy 36; Sturrock 64), Conference, March 2009
Last Mansfield win: Mansfield 5-0 Torquay (Boulding 14; Gritton 39, 59, pen 77; Baptiste 64), League Two, January 2007
Last Torquay league win at Field Mill: Mansfield 1-2 Torquay (Hathaway 8; Wood 52; Nelson 79), Division Three, October 1996

With just the vaguest, remotest chance of us keeping the dream alive until the last game I reckon our fate will more than likely be sealed at 4.50 pm tomorrow whether its us not gaining a win or Wycombe and Rovers drawing, though both will be caking themselves and imagine how Wycombe will be feeling coming here needing a result and we also could survive with a win. One not to miss IF it happens. Incredible that we have taken it this far with the recent block of four 1-0 defeats, Newport, Southend,York and Scunthorpe more of less doing for us. Just one win and a draw amongst that run and we would be well in at the death just a single point behind four other clubs. Its so frustrating as we deserved something and had little luck in any of those games. In reality and despite the recent encouraging displays I still think it has become a bridge too far. Still when we were relegated from League one on the last day at Colchester it was the least likely scenario or outcome from every permutation so there is a small glimmer of hope.Who knows our luck could change suddenly and we could be the ones benefiting from penalty and controversial sending off decisions.

Yes, I'm afraid it's our home form that has seriously let us down this season. Under Hargreaves we've picked up some decent away wins but have been let down by all those 1-0 home defeats. Even if some of them were draws we'd be well in with a shout now but sadly the chances of us surviving now are just too remote now to get excited (or anxious) about. It still would be nice to finish with bit of a flourish to give us a bit of hope for next season.

I'm having a coffee in Mansfield library. Haven't yet joined the knitting circle sat nearby or offered life skills training to the likely lads on the computers. There's still time for both and maybe even Torquay United avoiding relegation. Or am I better off knitting?

Game over for us and we will more than likely be relegated on goal difference just to rub salt into the wounds.

Mansfield down to ten men. All of a sudden we get some good fortune just as I predicted yesterday. One small glimmer if we do win and Rovers and Wycombe draw though we would have to score five with no reply next week. So bloody frustrating.

3-1 up. So so so frustrating that we didn't pick up a couple more points from all those 1-0 reverses....

Yes - seeing as I'd already given up and had prepared myself for non-league football, it is hitting hard.
