Wow, a historical result after a first half blitz of 5 goals. Nice pass and movement from the Germans, surely favourites for the World Cup now?

Been predicting Germany for months now. Such an assured array of players and an excellent tactician as the manager. I don't get how the media were so taken in by Brazil. They were lucky to make it out of the group stages. Never good enough to win this world cup, home advantage or not. I took a Germany-Netherlands final for £20 at 16-1 a few weeks back. Just need Netherlands to do their stuff against Argentina now!

Funniest thing I have ever seen on a football pitch. Played the game like kids in a playground. Germany were good without doubt but Brazil were appallingly bad and looked like a Conference side all over the pitch. Fancy Dans with no end product and more interested in looking good on the ball and putting on some sort of show than being effective and dicplined. Tom Cruise came to mind a few times during the match! And we thought all the English game and structure was in trouble! Germany were my tip as well to win it and they should do now. No other country can match there discipline, belief in what they're doing or strength of character and those are the three ingredients that will win you things at any level of the game, traits I want to see here next season.

So Argentina stuffed my bet. Never mind. However, nothing in tonight's game showed that either side have any more chance than Brazil had of beating Germany. I'm going to forecast a repeat of the '98 final's score with Germany winning 3-0.

nothing in tonight's game showed that either side have any more chance than Brazil had of beating Germany. They both tried to stop the other team from scoring - a tactic that Brazil didn't think of.

A drab boring game for most parts but at least the goal that won it was worthy of a final. Overall I think Germany deserved to win this time around.
Although Messi won the Golden Ball (as decided by the media; the same ones who thought no one could beat Brazil) I think it is pretty clear he is not in the same class as Maradona.
At least now the media can't trot out that boring old chestnut that no European team has ever won on South American soil.

at least the goal that won it was worthy of a final What "tekkers" (as I understand the youth of today call it)... Control with the chest and a left footed volley across the keeper into the corner. Worthy of winning any match...

Argentina and Holland know how to defend that's for sure, essential at any level of the game if your going to challenge for things. Germany , without doubt were best overall had hard workers and ability all over the pitch. Be interesting to see how our humble little teamare set up and how defensively strong we are under Greavsy now he has been able to put his stamp on things in pre-season - a tough no nonsense back line should be priority unless we are going the Brazil route!
