A long trip north the previous week for United....to Port Vale. Little did we know what would lie ahead in just seven years time.
And let’s get this straight. We travelled up on the Friday and then attempted to get home on the Saturday night via London. Couldn’t the club have hired one of those luxury up-to-date coaches from Balls of Newton Abbot? Possibly, considering he gets everywhere, with a bloke called Merson at the wheel. He'd have happily done the journey there-and-back in a day.
As for Ivor Powell, he was the chap who carried on coaching Bath University teams until he was ninety-three.
