We have got an FA Youth Cup game the next day, so I would not expect to see Ives, Odofin or any of the first choice youth players. If Tonge, MacDonald, Harding, Chapell and Benyon were all fit we could get near to fielding a pro XI, otherwise we'll be scratching around - maybe a trialist or two? Taunton have had two blank Saturdays, so I expect they will be looking to field a strong team.

I see from the Taunton website that they won 2-1 - no other details.... Taunton's normal match reporter was at Weston v Doncaster. Otherwise I could have provided full chapter and verse. I was at what the local media was describing, with a degree of irony, as the North Devon El Clásico

I went. However couldn't tell you who are defence were apart from young Mr Buckle junior at left back. Others all triallists and nobody knew who they were!! None any good either so im sure they wont be asked again. Benyon had a tap in just before half time and they scored with a free header after about an hour and an open defence let them through for a winner with about 5mins to go. To be fair Taunton never deserved to win but you have to put the ball in the net. We had a lot of the ball but gave it away when near their goal far too much. Seabiscuit in goal. Defence was: 3 triallists and Buckle. Midfield was Thompson, Chaney, Yeoman and a triallist. Ping Pong and Benyon up front. Ping Pong came off after an hour and Yeoman went up front. Benyon went off with about 15mins left. First two subs were kids, first looked about 12 and the final sub was Lee Hodges. Bloody cold up there but the coffees kept me warm

Thanks for that report! Sounds like we won't be getting any new defenders soon!

Even though one of Taunton's match reporters was at Weston last night, the club are normally very adept at putting details - including line-ups -online. I imagine that one of the directors will happily do the honours. There's an abbreviated report on the club website already which makes reference to a Torquay triallist called Mateo Duvnjak. There is, apparently, a Bosnian footballer of that name.
One of Taunton's scorers was a triallist from Witheridge.

I was sat close to the announcer there and he gave Taunton out but he didn't have Torquays and Hargreaves was then telling a Taunton guy the names and one was a name like that. I had a quick look at the hand written scrawl given to the announcer of the just said Roberto! Well he may have sounded like a Brazilian but like I say none would have done anything to be asked back.

That'll be Martin, the secretary. Always very amenable and helpful when it comes to line-ups and other details. Want the time of a booking? Ask Martin. He's the bloke who hasn't missed a first-team match since the mid 1970s. Save for having to take Tom Kelly to hospital during the course of a game. Kevin Sturmey, the chairman, has tweeted of Torquay United "top people there and always a pleasure". However, on balance, I was happy with Barnstaple v Bideford in the St Luke's (0-1; attendance 419). Danny Wring and Stephen Reed playing for Bideford. Also Grant Fisher and Nick Milton.

Att 118 Teigan Rosenquest is from Plymouth and has appeared for the youth team. Soumahoro - if he's the player of that name on Wiki and if that entry is correct - is from Côte d'Ivoire. He may be the first player to have worn the colours of Torquay United who has also played for a club in Andorra. Unless anybody knows of another?

Full match report on the Taunton Town website from Andy Power, director and long-standing supporter of the club. Good man, Andy!
The Peacocks got some much needed match practice with a friendly win over a select Gulls team. The first 45 minutes saw Town play some crisp, passing football which frequently stretched their visitors who only came alive in the closing stages of the half.
Striker Kyle Bassett from Witheridge trialled up front for Town and his early shot straight at Jordan Seabright signalled numerous goal attempts. Steve Murray’s left footer flew past the far post and Craig Herrod fed Bassett whose effort was parried wide. Herrod then lobbed onto the roof of the net and Ben Carter drilled in a 25 yarder that the Torquay custodian did well to turn aside.
The Gulls enjoyed their best spell as the halfway point approached. Sam Chaney lofted over the bar from the edge of the box and Niall Thompson beat his man to drive an angled shot across the face of goal. Thompson then got free down the right to deliver the ball in from the touchline and Elliot Benyon fired the ball under Lloyd Irish to hand his side the lead on 43 minutes.
The tempo quietened in the second half but this didn’t stop Town from drawing level after 58 minutes when the lively Bassett chipped a pass in to Aidan Chainey who flicked the ball on and half time substitute Josh Wadham was left free to guide his header over Seabright. Irish then deprived the visitors from regaining the lead, stopping Mateo Duvnjak’s unmarked header from Chaney’s free kick. The useful run-out looked to be ending with honours even until the Peacocks scored the winner on 85 minutes. Youth team captain Lewis Waldy threaded a lovely pass through to Bassett who took it in his stride before finishing clinically past Seabright.

Elliot Benyon fired the ball under Lloyd Irish to hand his side the lead Goal machine Benyon hits the net again. Conference defences will be quaking in their boots.

Captain America was a 59th minute sub for us - a fact that has gone rather sadly, under-reported.

Is this the same Mateo Duvnjak? If that video is meant to make him look good, I reckon, even I, could do most of the things his video is purporting to demonstrate. namely, hitting the ball straight, to someone, essentially unmarked, right in front of you. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soumahoro_Johnson is possibly the same one listed in the squad - an ex-St Etienne player, according to legend, whilst Roberto could be anyone.
