A tough mid week game sandwiched between two home matches. Macclesfield are unbeaten at home and have only lost three games all season. Not that they are on a great run with Saturday's win against Alfreton their first in five! However, that win was enough to propel them up to fourth and they will be looking to maintain momentum by looking to extend their 4 point gap over us! Top scorer is Fairhurst with seven and recent loan signing is defender Liam Hogan from Fleetwood! link - I see that CHris has almost a full squad to choose from - no word on the availability of Chappell who we really missed on Saturday IMO....

I agree rjd could have used Jordan on Saturday maybe but I haven't seen the form from him this season that had me expecting big things and just hasn't offered the threat I thought he would at this level. Maybe a confidence thing I suppose and needs more games. One of the high earners perhaps not sure. Another very tough fixture at a team in form but our style and tactics look more suited to playing away so I'm hoping for a small upset tonight against yet another former league club that must be hoping of a return. A narrow win and a clean sheet is top of my priority list . Here's hoping!

Well we win well at the best side in the division to stop the slide and then embark on another poor run. I think that tells me that we are not going to do anything this season - far to fragile and inconsistent in the extreme. Brilliant in patches and hopelessly vulnerable at other times. Not enough steel or experience in all honesty we have some good players but they need some older heads with a bit more know how. How we are still in touch with pack I have no idea, since we beat Dover 2-0 here at Plainmoor in mid September we have won only twice and that is simply not good enough and rather worrying.

Guess it shows how many inconsistent and poor teams there are in this league Pete. I think its mid table for us this year, with a few exciting games and victories thrown in! We are a team who can be very good and very poor in equal measure, sign of a young team finding their way perhaps. Roll on the summer when we can cut loose the likes of Tonge, Benyon, Harding and Chappell. High earners who clearly don't appear to be on CH's long term plans and are costing the club a lot of cash!! Perhaps then we may see CH managing without one hand tied behind his back.

Their wages off the payroll is unlikely to be as big a figure as the further drop in external income from those sources, unfortunately. I suspect his hands might be tied even further. It'll be interesting to see how many join TUST given that stark reality. Personally, I see us as a half decent keeper away from a top 5 play off side. We're not even that far off it with current personnel. But we've all read this before. And seen what has happened. And Seabright got dropped as he was not regarded as the answer.

Trying not to think about it too much, if I do it shatters my already fragile optimism!!

The reason for parachutes is so that you can afford to honour your onerous contracts. The money "saved" next season will not be available as an "extra" to spend. I do like the idea of trying to DO something about the situation rather than just MOANING about it

I have only had the misfortune of going to Macclesfield twice...once on the way to somewhere and once on the way back! So, hats off to all those hardy souls that made the trip on Tuesday!
I see that our intrepid young left-back (he, who his father seems to think will be playing in the Man Utd first team as soon as the transfer window opens) was involved in his second game for the club on Tuesday night. He was also involved (to what degree i'm unsure as I haven't seen the footage of the game yet) in his second indecisive decision which yet again cost us points! Maybe, and I mean just maybe...he needs to get his head out of the clouds (and possibly other places) and realise that the road to Old Trafford is a long hard slog. So why doesn't he start his career by signing for a smaller club...hey, I've just had an idea...
