I'd never heard of Twickenham FC before seeing this programme. Or even spared a moment's thought wondering if there was a football club in Twickenham.
In 1952 Twickenham were in the Metropolitan & District League, one of several "senior leagues" covering London and the South East. As the programme suggests it was made up of a mixture of amateur and professional clubs. The pro sides were generally the second and third teams of bigger clubs. Twickenham spent another season in the Met after 1952 before switching to the Parthenon League.
14 April was Easter Monday which explains the 11am kick-off. An Easter tour for Twickenham? And, further to our renewed discussion about Torquay Athletic, how about Ron Shaw's benefit game being switched because of a game at The Rec? Ah, Swansea RFC. Slightly more illustrious opponents than Okehampton or Tavistock.
The survival of this programme is, when you think about it, remarkable. How many copies might have been purchased in the first place? And then kept indefinitely?

Ron Shaw got 6,669 at Plainmoor for Charlton Athletic. I wonder how many Swansea drew to the Rec?
We've recently mentioned St Austell's current ambitions. They are our main rivals for the South Western League title here.
Worth noting that Barnstaple and Bideford are reserve teams and Argyle a third team.
Supporters' Club producing the programme - as we saw in 1936 - and running weekly dances at the 400 club.
