A strange team selection with an even lighter weight midfield and two player who fail to complement each other up front in Bowman and Campbell. Just back from Saltash and fresh from a great curry and having quaffed some great Cornish Beer - things a little hazy at the mo but did we really lose 1 - 0 to bottom of the league AFC Telford (And they having done the double over us) Thought that at the beginning Ch should have started with the Frenchman rather than Downes. He (the Frenchman) is more mobile that Downes who is starting to become a liability and I'm afaird I'd withdraw the offer of player Assistant Manager for next season. We seem to use Reid as a winger (but he ain't one) as he kept on drifting inside with no outlet down the left - this only changed when Ajala came on. Bowman had a awful match and if I was Ives I'd sign the contract now, not that I'd have him as first choice leftback (Cruise is having an operation and won't be playing next season I'm led to believe). What a strike from Briscoe at the end to almost snatch a point against the mighty Telford - pah.

So should we be looking at what Bristol Rovers, our relegation partners last season, are doing this season?
Their season has been the opposite of ours; a poor start followed by some consistent performances that has put them top of the pile. Whilst not wishing to breath new life into the awful 'Legends' thread, it does seem we may have done better with LM in our side. Without wishing to rake over the coals, I am certain he would have given us some leadership on the pitch, if nothing else.
A successful side is not just about the manager and the players. There is a lot more behind the scenes work that is required to build and put out a winning team. Maybe we should look at Bristol model and see if we could apply any of their processes to our club. Is it coincidental that both Bristol clubs are top of their respective leagues?

We need to look at getting 6 points for safety first something i have said for quite a while.51 points got you relegated last year,of course it could be a totally different figure this season.Surely to god we will manage that?but losing at home to telford aint exactly a confidence booster, chester will be up and at us tuesday night for sure,so less than total committment by us will be punished again.

Beyond The Penn Inn Roundabout is reporting that Chris Hargreaves bruised his hand yesterday punching the tactics board. I don’t know how they get their information. I don’t want to boast but I doubt if Chris Hargreaves can match my bruising. Stoical? I’d walk to Plainmoor from Exeter on Tuesday. And I trust Mr Hargreaves is applying a similar course of treatment.

We can thank Altrincham this week for maintaining the 13-point gap between us and the drop zone, by beating Welling this afternoon. I think it's pretty sad that I feel compelled to mention this but in the absence of winning any points for ourselves this may be what we become reduced to doing from now on.

I'd like to say Loyalgull can sleep soundly in his bed over this one. But somehow I doubt he ever sleeps soundly when it comes to Torquay United. We have 46 points. We have a superior goal average to the teams at the foot of the table. Telford would need 21 points from 10 games to reach 47 points. Dartford 18 from 11. Nuneaton 16 from 9. Welling 14 from 10. We better get a few more points. But we may almost have enough already. Optimism still in the Sunday Independent. Ross Reid manages to mention the play-offs in passing in his article. But I'm a little disappointed the letter didn't carry a Hull address.

Ross Reid's TUFC column is an embarrassment. The whole 'exciting at TQ1' vibe he appears intent on promoting every week, when the reality is so depressing.I just hope supporters of Exeter and Plymouth flick past because it really makes the club look daft.

Oh your so right bartondowns, after some 40 odd years it hasnt changed much, but this has been the mother of all years for us lot.I know the webb era was dreadful, but we were still a football league club, for me anyway this is as bad as its ever been including when deluded roberts was here.So much is wrong at present, cant see the woods for the trees. Can it get worse? Sadly i fear it can,but pray it wont.As far as the indy article is concerned has he actually been to many games of late?if he had he wouldnt be talking out of his rectal area as he is. A cringeworthy bit of journalism, that we know isnt going to happen, the team can hardly put two passes together let alone 2 wins on the trot.Of course this only my opinion, others may think totally different
