No.1 says Bude Town, so I'm cheating there. No. 5 Coach Road? No. 6 is Penzance. No. 7 Merthyr? No. 8 could be Truro, pretty sure no.9 is Salisbury, whilst no. 10 looks like Exmouth Town - just need the donkeys on the patch of land behind the stand to confirm. No. 12 looks a little like Weston-super-Mare, taken from their 'Thatchers Cider Stand', I think.

No. 3 looks familiar to me as well - I'm sure I've seen it from a train - perhaps on the way to London Waterloo. Gillingham Town?

No.8 Penzance; home to the Cornish Pirates... No.6 is across the road from the Pirates; home of the 'proper' footballers of Penzance FC. No.9 Salisbury; where on my last visit the vice-Chairman tried to sell me the club for a pound whilst standing on that balcony! No.3 is definitely Gillingham. One of my clock restoration workshops is situated by the railway bridge and this is, give-or-take a few degrees, the view from the toilet window. Don't think No.5 is Exmouth.

A splendid start. These are correct:
1. Bude Town - plenty of clues but I couldn't resist the picture. 3. Gillingham Town - taken from a Waterloo-bound train 6. Penzance 7. Merthyr Town 9. Salisbury 12. Weston-super-Mare
I should have said none are in Devon.
One is just a mile or so across the county boundary.
A couple are from neighbouring towns in the same county; alliteration is clearly an issue here.
Another is not the best-known club in its community.
There's one which has experienced a watery existence.
Another is a rogue element with the whiff of the sea.
A further ground, in a pleasant small town, makes for an excellent visit by train.

Sorry Bartie... I was editing my answers as you put up your post! I was just remarking that Nos 6 and 8 are a few yards apart in Penzance.

No.8 Penzance; home to the Cornish Pirates.. That's it: "a rogue element with the whiff of the sea". Answered before the clue had been dropped. No.9 Salisbury; where on my last visit the vice-Chairman tried to sell me the club for a pound! Budleigh clearly has form in negotiating with football clubs. Maybe that's what he's been telling us. The East Devon consortium may still be a contender. There's Budleigh, Hector.....who else? Here's a thought about stopping football clubs from falling into the hands of sharks and vultures. Last week we shouldn't have been playing Dartford. They were due to have been relegated last season. Our opponents should have been Hereford or Salisbury.

We don't want Plainmoor falling into disrepair like Gloucester City's old ground... No.2. (Posted before the clue was put up...!!) No.11 must be Sherborne, down the leafy lane. No.12 is visible from the motorway... Clevedon Town.

2. Gloucester City.
Rather too close to the Severn for its own good. In drier weather, with the right pair of shoes, I may have scrambled down the bank to take a look inside.
Gloucester City weren't at Meadow Park for long. They moved there in 1986 after an already-nomadic existence. City have played at Cheltenham since the floods. Plans have been approved to move back to Meadow Park with the land being raised.
11. Sherborne.
Nice one!
A modest ground in a fine setting up a sunken lane. Makes for a cracking day out in sunny weather.
By my reckoning we're left with 4, 5, 10 and 13. Rather as I expected.

I could have sworn no.10 was Exmouth Town - but perhaps the 'stand' is a bit further from the pitch, although come to think of it - Carter Park is just behind the end where the houses are in this picture, for Exmouth, but very similar looking.
For no. 5, it looks a little like Berry Head in the far distance, which it probably isn't, and therefore makes it feel it should be around Dawlish or somewhere but as there are no Devon grounds, if that is Berry Head, then it must be just into Dorset somewhere, so I am going to have a stab with Lyme Regis FC.

5 is Lyme Regis looking towards Portland.
As for 10, I can see the similarities with Exmouth.
If it was Exmouth you'd have the railway line on one side of the ground.
In this instance you have a much faster railway line within a few hundred yards. Some trains go through the station; others give it a miss.

Of course, No.10 could very well be Westbury United...

Of course, No.10 could very well be Westbury United... A man who knows his railways. Number 10 is Westbury United. Go back to the earlier clues and you should quickly be on the trail of one of those yet to be solved. But which one?

Well, I'm off to watch the mighty Gulls, so a break is needed (been updating my website, not just perusing non-league grounds); but I can't help thinking one is near Bradford-upon-Avon and the sloping bank is reminiscent of Cinderford, but I know it isn't...
