After Ling's absence a couple of years back and the effect it had on the players, I will be going through the turnstiles today with a feeling of dread and gawd knows what impact this will have on attendances! A combination of injuries and suspensions means the side that will be put out is limited....
Brinkley on the other hand come on the back of this one with three successive wins and will have confidence that is sky high. That have just brought in young Crystal Palace keeper Chris Vettings who will probably feature for them.
The Cheltenham match was a real kick in the teeth for us, how will things fare today....

I do fear how the past 24 hours has affected our young squad, nearly all of whom were Cox's players. Out of adversity does sometimes come triumph, lets hope that is the case today. Vital we start well and the fans stay onside.

It's a bit like Gun Powder Treason and Plot out there at the moment. I've never known so many people coming out of the woodwork, seemingly "in the know."
Whatever's true or isn't true I don't have a clue, but one thing is for shit sure true...we are deep in the shite!
This is Cox's team, and I dread to think what could happen on the pitch today. I will sit back and wait with bated breath!

Bell probably thinks that being signed by Cox and then Cox sodding off is somewhat of a liberty!

Bell is now showing on the BBC website where it was only showing four subs when it was first put up online.

Hmm. Just back from the game. More thoughts later but I feel sorry for Dan with the lemming like defending from McD, Geog and Smiffy. It was honestly like watching under 10s, where they all try and tackle the player with the ball and forget about the other attackers...It seemed that every time, all 3 would head straight for the one Bromley player with the ball and ignore the others in loads of space

I think my fears were realized on this one with our defensive frailties exposed in a big way. Ironically, we started strongly and could have been a couple of goals up after 5 minutes with a lob over their keeper only just going wide. A good game for the neutral with all those goals and probably the best way to describe the pulse of the game....
Goal 1 - from a free kick a high ball was delivered to the far post where Hurst was able to lob a free header from a narrow angle over their keeper!
Goal 2 - so easy for their striker to take the ball past MacDonald and curl the ball past Larcombe into the far corner
Goal 3 - From a corner, poorly taken, never went above shoulder height, came to their player who tried an overhead, ball ricocheted, came to another of their players a yard out, two touches to create the space to side foot into the corner.
Goal 4 - their striker dribbled the ball into the box, some desperate defending blocked it but it came out to another of their players centrally and just inside the box to hammer it home.
Goal 5 - within injury time of the first half, a strong Hurst cross to the far post to Marsh who took it across the goal and past their keeper to slot home. Game on for the second half or so we thought....
Goal 6 - a back pass to Larcombe, poorly cleared when maybe had more time came straight to their player, a foray on the right drew our players in and a deep cross to the far post was met by an unmarked player for Bromley to slot home.
Goal 7 - a clumsy foul by Exodus right on the edge of the area. A quality free kick over the wall and dipping nicely under the bar to leave Larcombe stranded!
Goal 8 - being outplayed our defence was stretched as the ball came out and Smith or MacDonald slid in to take out their player and concede the penalty. Larcombe sent wrong way for the ball to be fired low into the left hand side of the goal.
Goal 9 - our defence was being stretched but a pass back to an unmarked player on the edge of the box was hammered home with aplomb to leave Larcombe no chance.
Goal 10 - a good cross, from Hurst I think got past their defender for Marsh to run onto and slot home from just outside the six yard box for his brace.
Finally, sponsors had a sense of humour by giving MOTM to a defender but to be fair was better than both Exodus and Angus!

Nice summing up of the goals there Rob. I would add that from my viewpoint up top in the bench, their first goal and the free kick took deflections off torquay players which wrongfooted Danny.
To be honest, I really dont think the score was a fair reflection of the game. It seemed that every time Bromley got around our area, the defenders quite happily gave them as much room as they wanted. At the other end, Marsh looked pretty good, not convinced by his striking partner though. Thought Briscoe was poor, too many hospital passes. The centre of the park, given it contained 2 youngsters on loan (and I assume the aforementioned Briscoe as I really couldnt work out where he was supposed to be) really did look exposed and in need of some experience to organise it. I also assume Hurst was supposed to be our attacking outlet out wide? It left McD looking like a fish out of water at right back though. To summarise, Marsh and Hurst played quite well, Fenwick and Carmichael would have been ok with someone experienced to compliment and organise them, Danny has my deepest sympathy for the shocking display in front of him and the rest get a meh! (which, I am informed by my nephews, it is the popular yoof verbalisation for a shrug of the shoulders?)

There’s not too much you can say about today’s game, the score line says it all. I was hoping after Cox’s departure for some sort of lift today, who knows sometimes a shuffle around can help. But after taking an early lead our defence just weakly surrendered and made Bromley look like Barcelona. I believe we were playing 4-4-2 with MacDonald right back and Smith pairing Exodus in central defence. But whatever formation we were playing the defence stood off and were carved apart. I’m afraid it was a rude awakening for Lavercombe in goal, despite a couple of decent saves, his inexperience was exposed. Crowd a worrying 1,600, 100+ from Bromley, sponsors MOTM Smith. Let’s at least start with some positives on a bleak day. I was really impressed with Marsh in attack scoring 2 opportunist goals, something I have not seen from any of our strikers all season. He’s pretty nippy and showed good awareness for his goals. Murombedzi came on the left wing late in the second half and has some lovely pace and skill. Ironically going forward today we looked better than previous matches I’ve seen us this season. We linked play well at times and built up moves with more imagination than previous matches. I suppose 3 goals is a good return.
But and it’s a huge but, where was our defence today? You could argue they did not get much protection from midfield but the basics of closing down was not being done, MacDonald at right back being the worst culprit. After taking an early lead from a lovely headed goal by Hurst from a free-kick, our defence handed the game to Bromley. MacDonald was slow in closing down for their first and Ademola finished neatly. Bromley’s 2nd. goal was nightmare defending on our near post from a corner. There was a right old scramble, no-one cleared and the ball was poked in at close range. Bromley’s 3rd. was more embarrassing. I’ve never seen a Torquay defence toyed with on the edge of our box. There were a few clever passes until a shot was curled in. Lavercombe made a decent parried save and Marsh latched on to a Hurst shot in added time to make it 2-3 half-time. At half-time I asked people around me to guess the full-time score, I predicted 2-4. The other comment at half-time was that Deano and Ramshaw did not appear to be working together in the dug-out, they were stood far apart. It’s made me even wonder now, who was in charge today? Surely it should have been Ramshaw. The arrangement certainly did not work today and needs to change for Tuesday.
Torquay started the 2nd. half quite positively as Bromley seemed content to contain and waste a bit of time. Their 4th. goal really finished us off. From the opposite end we felt Lavercombe could have done better in cutting out a low cross that was tapped in at the far post. The collapse was gaining momentum. Bromley’s 5th. was an embarrassment . A free-kick as given on the edge of the penalty area in a central position. Lavercombe positioned himself too far too one side of his goal and left a huge gap on the other side of the goal. If the Bromley player could chip the ball over the wall into this vacant side of the goal there was no cover. From the opposite end you just knew it would happen and it did. Goal 6 was a penalty after a player was clipped in the box and goal 7 our defence was again wide open and it was a sweet finish. Marsh latched on to score our 3rd. but the humiliation had already happened. There were not many boos at the end and at least Bromley had a sporting send off from Torquay’s fans particularly from the Bristow bench.
It was a sad, sad day and no-one has a clue what it coming next. It seems from Steve Breed’s pre-match interview Hargreaves is not in the frame for a return. Surely he can do no worse than what currently is on show or Hodges for that matter. How could we afford a manager’s wages. Surely we cannot risk again not paying a manager who can just leave as he pleases. Desperate times I’m afraid but let’s continue to support our club more than ever. I just wish I could see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Well, what can you say about the game?
I was watching the body language of Ramshaw and Dean ‘I borrowed my tracksuit from the Museum’ Edwards. Most of the time they were at opposite ends of the technical area – Ramshaw arms folded and staring. Can’t see what the DOF bought to the area – almost like Ramshaw couldn’t be trusted – wouldn’t be surprised if he was off after Tuesday or when the Messiah has a new job. I hope that’s the last we will see of Edwards in the technical area - what coaching badges does he have?
I see Edwards has grabbed the glory on the front of the Sunday Independent in his Man at C & A tracksuit.
The game – who on earth dropped Spiess and replaced him with poor Lavers? What had Spiess done wrong – surely its Curly, Moe and Larry in front of him that must shoulder most if not all of the blame? So, was Exe playing with an injury?
Thought Marsh took his two goals well.
Bromley carved their way through our defence with some comical after you Claude moments with Emmanuel being the obvious star of the day.
Thought the back three apart from Smith were very poor with the Independent giving one star to them along with Fenwick and Carmichael. Not sure why we have Bell at the club would rather have had a quicker and more experienced CB. Don’t think this 3 at the back with wing backs is working and not sure if we have the personal at the club to change it.
Wonder what the gate will be on Tuesday.....?

Another disappointing aspect of the defeat on Saturday was the failure of the pop side drummer and his companions to make any noise at the start of the second half. They were superb at the kick off and understandably subdued when we went behind after such a great start. Having made it 2-3 on the stroke of half time I expected them to really get behind the team as the second half commenced. When they make a noise they get everyone clapping along and surely that lifts the players. It wasn't to be, however, and we didn't really hear much from them until some ironic singing at the end when the game was well and truly lost. Perhaps the drummer was one of those who left early, although surely not at half time?

John Ramshaw on Saturdays game v Bromley
"The director of football took full control, with selection and tactics, and the decisions that were made were made by him," said Ramshaw before taking the squad for training at United's Seale Hayne HQ near Newton Abbot"
