Hello everyone. Not been on for a very long time due to other commitments and life getting in the way. Sometimes your hobbies just fall by the wayside. Well, I am back with a renewed interest in my programme collecting.
Firstly I wonder if budleigh/timbo would consider whether this a good idea and worthy of its own sub board within the programmes board. I for one would love somewhere where I can reference whether programmes were issues/postponements/reissued/friendlies/miscellaneous.
This is the way I see it: I have thought about it for a long time as we have some great posters on the programmes board. With the likes of gullone, Jon, budleigh, timbo and many more besides. I restarted collecting one season only, random I know.... 1984/85 and requested on another thread any info on Pre season friendlies.
gullone came up with this:
84/5 pre season aways 25/7 Kingsteignton no prog 28/7 STC no prog 30/7 Moorland Select X1 at Ashburton 4 page prog 1/8 Stoke Gabriel (ground opening) prog 2/8 Teignmouth no prog 4/8 Dorchester s/s prog 7/8 Gloucester prog 11/8 Andover prog 14/8 Crystal Palace home s/s prog 18/8 Bristol City home s/s.prog. Mid season March 25th 85 HMS Torquay home no prog 14 0 ! also April 23rd 85 Brixham Rovers (fund raiser) at Wall Park prog also 14 0.
When I asked for any score info (not relevant in the long run) the ever reliable Jon came up with:
25/07/84 A v Kingsteignton W 10 - 0 Barnes 5, Norman, others unknown
28/07/84 A v STC W 3 - 0 Pugh 2, Barnes
30/07/84 A v Moorland XI W 7 - 0
01/08/84 A v Stoke Gabriel W 4 - 0 Barnes, G.Perry, Hall, Laryea
02/08/84 A v Teignmouth L 0 - 1
04/08/84 A v Dorchester W 1 - 0 Pugh
07/08/84 A v Gloucester City W 2 - 0 G.Perry, Barnes
11/08/84 A v Andover D 2 - 2 Fowler, Barnes
14/08/84 H v Crystal Palace L 1 - 2 Laryea
18/08/84 H v Bristol City L 0 - 1
21/08/84 A v Kingsteignton ?
25/09/84 A v Saltash L 1 - 3 Laryea
17/10/84 A v Kingsteignton L 1 - 2
06/02/85 A v Plymouth Argyle D 0 - 0
20/02/85 H v Saltash W 2 - 1
25/03/85 H v HMS Torquay W 14 - 0
23/04/85 A v Brixham TF XI W 14 - 0
29/04/85 A v Exeter City L 0 - 1
Now forgive the ongoing post but lets just take that one season for now. If we did have a board we could have a thread for each season which would be great to access for research. With a bit of tidying up above/editing to add the Plymouth postponement on the 21st and mixing the both we could have - in the 1984/85 Season Thread
25/07/84 A v Kingsteignton (No Programme Issued)
28/07/84 A v STC (No Programme Issued)
30/07/84 A v Moorland XI (4 Page Programme Issued)
01/08/84 A v Stoke Gabriel
Etc. Now of course a game with nothing after means that there was a programme issued. Any brackets are variation on a full programme/Single sheet/No issue. I have only posted the first four but I/others would post the whole season and then we can also define re:postponements - whether there was a reissue for the rearranged game. No of course we can add the scores and known scorers as above and the competition, but for me the 4 team example is the simplist and works for me. With gullone's belief that there were no postponements (apart from Plymouth and that was not rearranged, then all that is needed is for me/others to add the rest of the Frindly info to the above for team post then post the rest of the season. Voila, then we have a complete known season of info. It doesn't have to be one at a time and we can all input the info as long as the top post is up to date. Any missing info/needs to be checked info can be in RED. What do others think?
As I said above I forsee this as a season by season with a thread for each season, the easiest of access then. No worries if timbo and budleigh don't want to put an extra board on but it would be very accessable for the researchers and progamme collectors on here. I do not have net access so can only post a few times a week from the library so this would be a team effort and each thread can have all the discussion info as long as the top post is edited up to date - not been on for ages, are posts editable?
I hope you guys think this is a good idea.
