Hi All,
I'm trying to help my other half find out some information about her father Tom Cullis. There seems to be a fair amount of certainty that he played for Torquay Utd at some point. I haven't got ay exact dates with me but I'm told he was born in the early 1900's and so I'm thinking he could've played during the 20's and 30's.
We're coming down to Torquay on the weekend and were also wondering if there is an archive that we could access. I think in an ideal world we would find a photo or at least some mention of him.......I know this is probably asking a bit much but as they say if you don't ask you'll never know.
Many thanks
Alex Carsley and Karen Cullis

Hi Alex and Karen,
Thanks for the query!
TUFC were elected to the Football League in 1927. Tom Cullis certainly did not play a Football League match for us.
It is possible that he played for us before we were elected to the League or that he played for the reserves after 1927 - although to be honest I don't recall coming across his name in my research.
I would be very happy to help you track him down. Do you have any more information at all that could help me? Was he a Torquay lad? Did he play for any other teams? Do you have names of any friends / playing colleagues? Something might ring a bell if you can throw me a clue. Please feel to post anything you know on this thread or send info to me by Private Message.
Torquay Library has microfilm of old local newspapers but, unless we can narrow the search, you would be looking for a needle in a haystack!
