I started a project about a month ago, to compile an 'On This Day' feature for every day of the year. Between the published histories and online materials I have been able to find at least one item for each day between 5th August and 22nd May.
However during the summer there very limited matches, and so no debuts, final matches, memorable moments, sequences etc...
A few have entries, but there are still 46 days with absolutely nothing. I've tried to include all manager appointments and departures, player signings, player sales, friendlies and testimonials, International games and anything else I came across.
The trouble is though that finding the exact dates memorable players signed or left is tricky, unless it's from the past few seasons (when we've not had too many memorable players...) and pre-season friendlies are much harder to find details for.
Now this site is the place to go to for all matters historical, so I am appealing for help to fill in the missing days. I have only been going to games for just under 20 years, so if anyone with a longer memory than me, or more avenues for research, could assist then I would be extremely grateful.
The rest of the year can be read here: www.torquayfanstats.com/on-this-day and any other impressive stats for any day of the year that I've not included would also be very much appreciated.
Chris
