I'm with Chelston.
Gullone, if you spot Charlie Fairhead come over and say hello!

Hope you'll be you tube-ing your Icelandic war cry. Looking forward to reports of interesting trialists. Will Vassell be on the team sheet??

Yep, I'm going. Is the legendary Pam Emmins still around?

I am nor expecting to see any new signings of note today and with a small squad cannot afford for anyone to get injured but will be good to get back into the swing of things!

So a 2-1 win for the good guys with both of our goals coming in the first half. Jamie Chamberlain scored both. The first from a chipped ball through that could only be back headed by Stoke player with Jamie able to lob the bouncing ball over their onrushing keeper. The second came from a penalty after some good work on the right came to our number 10 free in the box and although his first touch was not great ( should have put it away ) was fouled by a Stoke defender before he could get another touch. Penalty knocked into the right and sent keeper wrong way. Their goal came from a good header although uncontested from Palmer into the left hand corner of the goal.
If anyone caught my eye, it was our number 9 today. Apart from his general play, supplied the cross for the penalty and late on did a delightful dink over their defender to put our number 10 through for an one on one where he should have scored but shot straight at the keeper.

Chelston couldn't make it, but I happened to be flagged down by some bearded guy outside his house who blagged a lift to the game. Pleasant enough company with a similar dry sense of humour to Chelston. Nice to catch up with Rob, Sam, Ali and Val too. I managed to get the last bottle of Bays Gold so my new bearded friend had to settle for Jail Ale. Very pleasant ground and clubhouse and the locals were friendly. Our line-up may have been something like: Cory Harvey John Dollery Sam Oki Hayden Greening (Kevin Nicholson) Morgan Harford Dior Angus Jamie Chamberlain Tallan Mitchell Hassan Jalloh Josh Southway Sam Melia It was a straight 4-4-2 formation, although I don't know which of the players was which so have not guessed sticking the eleven into shape. Maybe google might help. The only two I recognised were Nico and Chamberlain who played for us last season in the Bowl and friendlies. Chamberlain scored both our goals (one a penalty) in a 2-1 win. He played centre-midfield, although he played up front for us last season (and for Upton Athletic and Bideford I think). Ed Palmer, formerly of this parish, scored for Stoke. Morgan Harford is a Torquay Academy student - the rest trialists. John Dollery is a Canadian under-20 international and related to our very own Chris Fleet. Fleety couldn't pick him out on the pitch but that is probably due to his failing eyesight. From the video below, I think he may have been our right back - who was the most vocal and confident of the trialists. Centre forward (number 9) looked good - but you cannot tell too much from a runout like this. The right winger looked like he could have been Isaac Vassell, but apparently he wasn't. Dollery

Very pleasant afternoon spent watching our beloved football club start the 'season' with equally pleasant company (not seen for at least a couple of months). Great pitch and great that TUFC can put a put a bit back into the Community. Some said no one from the main squad would play - they were obviously wrong with Nico putting in a MOM performance! Thought 'our' number 9 had some thing about him, but difficult to gauge in the type of game.

It was uncanny - minutes after putting himself on, Nico inspired the troops to score the opening goal before making the game safe with a second! #torquaylegend Nice to see you have updated your photo for the new season!
