I'm sure Chelston speaks for many fans when he describes how difficult it can be to see the wood from the trees at times, when trying to make sense of so many sources of information, some of which are credible, and some much more dubious. Rob mentions the difficulty in finding reassurance given the current situation, and hopefully, if things move in the direction that many of us hope, then TUST members might enjoy far greater reassurance in the knowledge that they have a representative keeping a close eye on things at boardroom level. While no final decisions have been taken as yet, perhaps 2017 will see that significant opportunity open up for TUST. This would mean TUST membership representing even better value, with members safe in the knowledge that their man (or woman) had a seat at the top table, and was strongly arguing their case, as well as keeping a watchful eye on G.I's intentions. Unity is strength

Strong suggestion the previous owner and possibly still Chairman Dave Phillips has been playing the role of OFFICIAL 'militant' on another fans site tonight. I say possibly still Chairman as when I enquired with him as to who are the club's representatives right now given the Boxing Day programme notes, other board members having departed and Rob Stanley's departure, his answer was "Sharon Cox".
Keyboard winkery taken to a new level, perhaps. What a sorry state of affairs. As for the new owners, they've already spoken to Bernard but 'Dave' didn't want to elaborate on that and has taken a sabbatical after his "unveiling". Bloody depressing reading, tbh. I've seen all this divide and rule before with empty promises and the loss of a club. Please God not again.
They'd better get cracking on that Kieffer Moore signing asap. A little short term shot in the arm wouldn't go amiss. For them and us, you would've thought. I hate knowing what I do about TUFC tonight. Countdown to NYD. Another bit of footie can't come soon enough to compartmentalise and enjoy. Another 4-3 ought to do it.
You're right, alpine. Unity is indeed strength. We need to do it our way or our fans could end up being as splintered as those at Truro and Hull while the corpse is picked over. Good to have Comrade Joe back, btw, sir.

Had a little read, still does not understand role of TUST and it seems a long time ago when the previous Board said they were going to be open and it is clear as to the extent of the break down between them and fans. I thinks Eggs have been firmly put in one basket and he is not prepared to see that they may be dropped despite GI not being an option at the recent forum.
What is clear is that the club is going to go through a development process. No matter, that GI are going to undertake a review for the remainder of the season to understand the club, with all relevant parties, that has already been decided together with the youth set up which gives an impression of longevity at least.
Can a successful redevelopment be undertaken? What analysis has been done to even see if this is feasible? Even if it goes ahead there are significant risks - look at the ERC. GI certainly needs the club in the short term to broker a deal but what are the chances of it going tits up and what will the club then be left with.

Be interesting to see if actual share capital is injected this time. Loans seem to be a favoured approach. More wood for trees there, no doubt.

The end product will be collateral. As previously noted, our new owners don't have the best track record of getting there.

What is it that leads you to believe that it is Dave Phillips posting on the torquayfans forum? I would think that is highly unlikely, but will admit I'm wrong if you can convince me. I would have thought that the answer "Sharon Cox" was to say who is the club representative on the TUOSC committee. I think Dave Thomas said as much in the Herald and it would make sense if TUOSC is effectively generating sponsorship to co-ordinate this with the activities of the commercial manager.

I think that may be right re Sharon Cox, although the question I posed was about TUFC not TUOSC to "bringbackthecowshed". It's possible the question got lost amongst the other stuff. I'll leave it to others re the poster for now. He can reply if he chooses to.

Hi Rob. I'm sorry if I'm going a bit off topic here, but as you have had a rather unpleasant experience with GI in the past I was wondering did you feel that GI had fully intended the demise of Reading Racers from the beginning or was it something that happened because of gross negligence or incompetence?

I'm sorry if I'm going a bit off topic here, but as you have had a rather unpleasant experience with GI in the past I was wondering did you feel that GI had fully intended the demise of Reading Racers from the beginning or was it something that happened because of gross negligence or incompetence? www.readingspeedway.com/news.php?extend.1579Here is a little article around the time of demolition. Many more subsequently on that website have Clarke Osbourne interviews. They continue well beyond the 2008-2009 links I have put in this post. I know some were wandering what he sounded like. You may want to listen to them for a balanced appraisal. The casino mentioned went elsewhere. Stadia UK's role was ostensibly all about building on a nearby site. It never felt as a fan like building was about to start throughout the whole saga, although a number of false dawns of optimism were interspersed. At the link below is a small piece from a year after demolition. www.readingspeedway.com/news.php?extend.1666For me, Pete, their role from the outset was specified as about land and development when it came to Reading Speedway. It didn't go well for supporters. Apparently, it is about something else at TUFC. As mentioned, Clarke Osbourne interviews are there on the site as his take as our new owner may be of more interest than those of a mere supporter.
