petef I didn't know the programme was on, and haven't seen it. I must admit I'd have been sufficiently cynical about the BBC's motives in financing such a programme that I'd probably not have bothered with it. I well remember the Russian hooligans, dressed mainly in black, at the Euro 2016 tournament, and am aware that Youtube has no shortage of footage of gang fights in the woods, purportedly from Russia. These football hooligans only brought bad publicity for Russia during the Summer, so I'd be very doubtful if any credible links to State sponsorship could be produced, while at the same time accepting that hinting at such links would be one of the BBC's main aims. Today's Telegraph is emphatic in it's conclusion: ' The film found no evidence that this culture is state-sponsored. Quite the reverse, in fact'.link - Daily Telegraph, Russia's Hooligan ArmyNot that Pete is under any obligation to draw similar conclusions to The Telegraph. Whether you believe it's a hatchet piece aimed in the usual way to discredit Putin's Russia, and all rather predictable from our State broadcaster, or a more balanced account....well that'll be up to individual viewers. Stepanov, whoever he is, tells RT that the print version of the BBC (The Guardian) aids and abets the narrative “Yes, I did participate in the film, but I'm amazed at how they twist my words in the media now,” Stepanov told RT.“I haven’t seen the movie itself, though. I’ve only read an article about it in (British newspaper) the Guardian, which I call a ‘smear campaign.’ The part about ‘Putin’s military forces in Marseille’ is a barefaced lie.“I’d never say that. I knew who I was talking to, and what kind of answers they were looking for.”link - RT Hooligan ArmyAnd finally the Russian Embassy, reminding us that the Licence fee forces us to pay for the creation of the propaganda that is fed to us.

Blimey, busy Friday night for the Cornwall branch of the Chris Roberts Fan Club.
I've recently started to wonder if Alpine Joe could actually be some kind of parody of a lonely right-wing crackpot with too much time on his hands... Just needs a bit of tweaking.

It's interesting that Alpine drudges up whatever he can to discredit what he sees as liberal and left-wing. But when it is the Kremlin he is using as evidence that the BBC is impartial, that takes some doing. Who next? North Korea accuses BBC of bias?
