Danny Rowe of Fylde scored 40 goals in Conference North last season. Would he fancy a move to the English Riviera? Doubt it. They have serious wedge and got promoted.

We may have lost Williams (to Bromley), but we've gained Montel ! Suggestions are that young striker Montel Gibson, now unwanted by Notts County, might have travelled down to the Riviera in the hope of impressing King Kev. Good luck to the lad, who doesn't celebrate his 20th birthday until later in the year. He'll be looking for a club to take him on, and in no position to demand a King's ransom. Always a gamble for a club when the Manager tries to assess a player away from the truly competitive arena; Ashley Yeoman would always score at least six in each of the pre-season games . If you're young enough to have missed that era when we imported the worst of U.S Television....Jerry Springer, Montel Williams, Oprah Winfrey etc, then count yourself lucky. Although dear old Montel must be up to something still I suppose...he maintains a healthy 177,000 twitter followers, which is the true test of any mans stature. Anyway....all just a prelude to taking the wrapping off that fixture list tomorrow. I even dreamt about it last night...and we're away to Halifax in the middle of January !

No sign or rumour of any new signings imminent other than the trialists. I thought up until now, Nico had done rather well on the signing front. Probably run out of money, because as we all know, this time of year, managers have to have more fingers in pies than a leper at a cookery class!

Important that we don't just make up the numbers with a bunch of nomadic chancers. We still need 3-4 decent additions, including a winger and big target man. Reasonable progress so far but more to be done to be confident of a top half of the table finish.

Register Which reminds me, why can't you use a finger to stir your tea rather than what you've told us you do use ? Surely the warmth would be good for arthritic joints ? Nico's signings don't look a bad bunch on paper, and we don't want him to spoil things now by making any rushed signings as the big kick-off approaches. From the current trialists he's been running the rule over, you'd think for sure they'd need to provide a reasonable showing against Argyle and Bristol City in the friendlies to merit serious consideration. Looking good against Stoke Gabriel or Newton Abbot is a whole different and more pointless kettle of fish. As I've mentioned previously, Ashley Yeoman frequently looked more deadly than Marco Van Basten during the pre-season games. Niall Thompson's jet propelled wing play would leave a Weston-Super-Mare defender eating dust. Chris Hargreaves as sweeper during pre-season away at Tiverton, resembled Beckenbauer at his prime. Not only is it imperative that King Kev doesn't allow himself to be rushed into a signing, but also that he fully evaluates the quality of any prospective recruit as to how it will translate to National League level....even if there are fans swooning at a trialist who can nutmeg a Stoke Gabriel defender. The signing of a forward is one that Kev needs to get right. And in some ways I'm reassured by the fact that we seem to be taking our time over it. I'd rather we held off if we're not sure, and when we do make a signing make certain it's the right one (Kev seems to have spent the whole of last season regretting the signing of one 'individual' rather than a team player he rashly brought in.....with the wage bill taking a considerable hit for sure). I can't finish a post without making mention of TUST . And looking across the Forums I'm surprised to note that it is often TUST members who are urging further spending, and encouraging Clarke Osborne to rack up the debt with greater expenditure on quality signings that would severely swell the wage bill. Yet another example that under TUST's tight reins on expenditure, and the likely hand to mouth existence we'd now be experiencing, it would have been many of the TUST members themselves throwing their hands up in horror. Whether these spendthrifts are in the majority with their favoured approach , or that they represent the smaller 'Viv Nicholson' (no relation to Kev) wing of TUST, I don't know....but they clearly favour splashing the cash.

Nobody has been signed for a good few weeks now. Nicho and Hedges want a winger and a striker, much like all other TUFC fans, barring any considering the need for finding either as fake news. Looking across the forums - there's only one of them, though.

Yes Rob still waiting for the last pieces of the jigsaw and a front line leader was always going to be the toughest to find. Surely plenty of wingers about though.
Aslo plenty of fake news or is it alternative facts? The kiddies site, as labelled by others is an utterly depressing read these days full of negativity "hogged" and infiltrated by a few superior beings who seem intent on launching a campaign to get rid of the manager - and the new season hasn't even started. Not sure why I bother to read it but it is rather enlightening as to how some supporters think. These people must be retired or wealthy with nothing better to do with their time other sit on their keyboards all day running down the manager and criticising his every move. Sad narrow minded lives they must lead. They deserve our sympathy.

They are the true keyboard 😉'S perhaps? Nicho, has stated he has learnt from his mistakes and won't be rushing in to sign the ( in this case) first striker and winger that s available and agrees terms etc. So patience is a virtue but if it gets to August say the 2nd I'd be concerned.

Sign in haste, repent at leisure. King Kev knows he can't spend the same money twice. Probably isn't overloaded with funds and so is wisely prepared to hold off until he's as sure as he can be that it's the right man for the job. At this time of year with plenty of pre-season games, I expect Dave Hedges is setting off from his Bristol base to watch a match almost every day of the week, while Kev is able to concentrate on the team at Plainmoor. That's a big step up from the situation we've been faced with over recent seasons.
And with there being no transfer window to consider, Kev is shrewdly resisting any urge to make a rash signing or two. Those last pieces of the jigsaw need to be a snug fit, rather than hastily recruited and banged into place, potentially damaging everything he's been carefully piecing together over the Summer.

You got it, Alpine Joe. That's how I " read it" also. Wait, choose, contact, confirm, sign. Train win.

Good to hear than Giancarlo Gallifuoco has got himself fixed up with a club for next season. He's signed a one year contract with Dover. With King Kev having been so successful in bringing in the defensive targets he wanted to sign, I doubt very much that GG could see himself getting much of a look in as regards first team appearances. No doubt the financial terms offered to him reflected that reality, and it's little surprise that he chose to examine what else was on offer. Never a spectacular performer, but a good pro none the less, who I imagine has trained hard and played hard without giving Kev a moments trouble. Should be guaranteed a decent reception if he returns to Plainmoor with his new club.

Cannot fault GG's commitment and application . Played his part in the turnaround last season and always gave it his all. Not quite there though as a player to push the club on and we have to pray we have signed better. Good luck to GG.
