Next manager?

Three weeks this coming Thursday this sorry saga began it seems! If Herrera or someone of his ilk takes charge, then it's been a complete cock-up! If GI do manage to install even a half decent manager, then I can forgive them the wait! 

One match after sacking their manager, Guiseley have unveiled Paul Cox as their new manager. Meanwhile, the HE is speculating that we may not have a manager in situ preparing the team until after Saturday, which would be the 5th match since Nicholson got the sack.

It wont be Jimmy Floyd Haselbaink, he has just taken the managers job at Northampton on a THREE year deal!

Beginning to lose interest now to be honest. Maybe that is the plan?! Am now fully expecting a Todd/Tully/Hodges type appointment. Either that or we will have RH for the rest of the season.
I cannot beleive that the club are still sifting through applications and interviews after 3 weeks?!

The cycle of sacking and recruiting seems to have been greatly speeded (sped?) up over recent decades, with Managers up and down the country getting the push after what seems like comparatively short stints in the job. This is surely due in large part to insufficient consideration being given to the suitability of the original appointment. G.I seem to be determined to buck the trend, and instead to apply careful analysis in order to select just the right man to further our cause of achieving Sustainable Success.

I don't doubt that if we were already in January or February, and in our current predicament League table wise, then the necessity to hurry things along would have brought a swifter appointment. But might it be that Harrop, Hedges & Co have concluded that in their view we will not have a squad this season that will be challenging for a play off place, and equally that there's more than sufficient time to pull well clear of relegation ?  Perhaps they see no imminent time pressures to prevent them from taking a good long look at the whole situation, so as to be as sure as they can that the candidate selected is the best of the bunch.

With another Tuesday night game next week, the new man won't get a clear week on the training ground which he would no doubt have preferred if you want to make a really good analysis of your players or drastically change the system of play.  Time constraints alone would mean that anyone brought in over the next couple of days can't do much much more than tinker with things.

It's not all plain sailing for Wrexham either, and Rob points out one disability they labour under. We could do with keeping our September unbeaten run going and good support for the team on Saturday will make that more likely. Elsewhere, Merse has wittily pointed out the futility of a 'Tooting Popular Front' tribute group forming outside of Plainmoor on Saturday afternoon. The Herald Express has done it's best to report on this while keeping a straight face. 

I don't know the potential organisers so it would be wrong to assume it's a breakaway gaggle of TUST militants, dissatisfied with the 'representation' that doesn't seem to be forthcoming from our favourite 'Fans Representatives' organisation. My guess would be that the whole thing will fizzle out, pre-Share Issue style, and fall some way short of it's early hype. Particularly if there's a new Manager in position, any Kiddies Revolt will all seem a bit pointless.

And it's not only on the Managerial appointment front that G.I are being pro-active. The Official Supporters Club go from strength to strength, and there's the new publication 'Gullsmag' to look forward to soon. Yet another initiative to keep fans well informed and in the loop. The new magazine gets a mention in the piece about life long Gulls fan Roger Lester on the OS  link- Loyal Supporter Roger Lester.

You can be certain that Roger will know where his loyalties lie on Saturday; inside Plainmoor supporting his team, and not outside with Wolfie Smith and the TPF.

'All is calm, all is bright'.......I don't know about 'Silent Night', but it's the Silent Days with no managerial news, that have concerned a few impatient Gulls. But the Yuletide theme won't go away now that Assistant Legend Robbie Herrera has declared 'I'm yer man till Christmas.....errr.. if you want me'

The alternative, according to the HE, is for us to soon be singing 'Des Bulpin's Yellow Army'.  The big advantage Des has is that he's nearer 70 than 60, and even Ronnie Moore can't compete with that.
