The BNA now has the Birmingham Post up to 1972, so a good chance to relive the two seasons when Torquay United and Aston Villa were rivals.
The first of five matches (4 in the league plus one FA Cup) took place on 7 November 1970.
The previous Saturday, Torquay United beat the leaders Fulham 3-1 in our second appearance on Match of the Day.
Two points behind Villa going into the game, a 1-0 win saw us leapfrog them into third place.
The Monday after the game saw the draw for the first round of the FA Cup - Torquay United v Aston Villa.
Villa were confident of revenge.....
