With no news of any striker coming in as of yet most of us will be feeling pretty negative once again. Will we manage to score a goal let alone win a game? No predictions other than I expect us to lose again without scoring. Grim times at TUFC.

According to HE, Gnabouyou has agreed a deal but unknown if he has international clearance and possibly not match fit. DT claims he "may feature" tonight. www.devonlive.com/sport/football/sutton-united-vs-torquay-united-810106 Not enough to prise me from listening from my armchair, that. The potential prospect of McQuoid starting again has made it too much of an effort to travel the 35 miles to Sutton.

Open top bus around the bay, break out the champagne - nice to get a win even a narrow one but one swallow doesn't make a summer. Wont be rejoicing until we put a run together.

6 points from the next two home games would be very welcome.

Well, didn't see that one coming and having to defend that lead for 80 minutes.
Would love to follow this win with one on Saturday...

Nice to see McGinty in the National League team of the day The reigning Young Player Of The Season, and a lad who has performed better than many in a struggling team. Recognition yesterday it seems for a good defensive display by everyone, from goalkeeper Dorel and all those in front of him. I hadn't realised that Shaun had been given the captain's armband last night, but remember that King Kev did say he was in contention for that honour for this season. No surprise that the more experienced Josh Gowling was the eventual choice, but Shaun is the natural choice to deputise when Gowling's knees are having a rest. You can't see McGinty quite progressing to the level Cap'n Angus has reached (with apparent ease), but as he approaches his mid twenties then a bit more experience and confidence should allow him to at least maintain, and hopefully improve on his current level. With Davey from Cheltenham already here, and the goalscorers due to arrive any day, there's no reason to throw in the towel. Even Rob's favourite had a good game last night I believe. Let's hope for further progress at the weekend.

Let's hope for further progress at the weekend. A kind and deserved appraisal of McGinty, AJ. He gets a lot of unnecessary stick elsewhere (merse on torquayfans.com on Monday saying he would get rid of both Young and him, for example) and is a wholehearted defender who was deservedly young player of the season. I hadn't realised he had taken the armband. He did that before at Aldershot. Great that he could cap it off with a clean sheet and a win. A real confidence booster for someone two previous managers and now Owers have publicly regarded as a leader. I see McGinty is today regarded as having improved since Owers got here, but whether that means merse still wants him to go is anyone's guess. I recall he wasn't a big fan of Angus either. McGinty is a key part of that back three Owers has installed, that is for sure. Re McQuoid, I see merse put in a few superlatives regarding McQuoid, who was given the hook after 68 minutes. The inclination to take that with a pinch of salt until I read others saying the same is tempting, of course. My McQuoid anti-hero thing has very much been a lampooning over-reaction to the stick that players Owers hasn't signed get from merse more than anything else. That said, he has been poor prior to Sutton. I think all are craving an upgrade on our forward options. Well done to Keating taking his chance, mind. Effort seems to be made by some with almost every post to blame all ills on Nicholson, with good things falling at the feet of Owers and it is time to move on. Has been for a while now. It's playground, hence some of the McQuoid OTT playground stuff in response to it. I might keep it going, though. I know you would approve, AJ. The important thing is the win. It sounded as if we were a bit under the cosh in the second half, but that was to be expected and we held firm. It sounds as though Davey fitted in just nicely, too. Like others have said, Saturday against another struggling team in front of our home fans is a big game both to keep up with the pack, for a bit of momentum of our own and some long overdue good feeling at Plainmoor on a Saturday.

Confirmation bias probably deserves a thread of its own. Whilst it is sometimes amusing watching people twisting facts to suit their prejudices, the tendency towards attitude polarisation can have damaging effects. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias

Hope so. But if he’s in the starting X1 today and Hopkirk Deceased doesn’t make the bench, I may overreact.
