We sound very very good today. Comfortable win based on the first half performance where we were well on top and created the chances to take the lead with Leyton rarely threatening. Young's goal may have been helped by the setting sun but his shot was really well struck into the bottom left corner. Leyton could and perhaps should have had an extremely soft penalty which was waved down by the ref and to be fair, we had a few shouts at the other end with Keating for instance being pushed to the ground looking a close call. If I was to be ultra critical, Leyton were there for the taking in the second half and we could have had a hatful of goals but for some poor decision making in good positions as the Leyton Defence went missing. On the other hand, we looked organised, everyone worked very hard, closing down their players very quickly with special mention to Reid and Young in this respect. Our Passing Was generally good and our wing backs seemed to have acres of space at times but Efete's crossing went harmlessly out of play on more than one occasion with plenty of options available and something to be worked on.

Well, what can you say after that performance?
Orient were very poor (and could do a 'York City') and were there for the taking and it was good to see we beat them, and in style.Nice to go home on a Saturday witha smile and enjoy a victory beer.
Some very good performanes with young Josh opening the scoring and Young belting in the scond. Reidy desrved the third. A lot of wasted chances on a different day we may have been cursing those players. McGinty played well and when he played the ball on the deck showed a lot of skill
All in all a very good week, well done to all concerend.

I was disappointed to miss this match, initially as I wanted to show my appreciation to Martin Ling, and now because I know I would have seen a good performance from our team, as well as a rare win. But at least I had been able to get to Plainmoor for the 4-0 Tuesday night win over Maidenhead in early October, so I don't feel too hard done by. It was good to read reports praising both our football as well as notching up three goals and a consecutive clean sheet....that superb away win at current league leaders Sutton, still less than a week ago. The Maidenhead game had been a mixture of good passing football with a liberal sprinkling of goals. But then when we tried to do the same thing in the same way on the same pitch four days later, it just didn't work at all against quality opposition such as Dover. We had no idea how to break them down. When faced with more average opponents such as Hartlepool and Maidstone the football was again pleasant enough to watch and enough reasonable chances created, but bad luck and bad finishing left us pointless. We're still not clinical by any means, but we've gradually brought in more quality, made efforts to address our lack of firepower, and all been patient waiting for SuperJosh to come good. The football has remained quite watchable, even if results had left us tearing our hair out, and now with the confidence boost of 6 points in a week, and the League table is indicating that we're nowhere near adrift and can still fight our way out of trouble....maybe even long before season's end. Don't change the centreback pairing, advises Chelstongull. I think he'll be happy enough with the defence we name for this coming Saturday. Given Gowling's injury history and his age, you wouldn't want to rush him back if you didn't have to anyway. Also after two clean sheets and two impressive wins, how hard done by would either McGinty or Davey feel if they were dropped on the back of two excellent showings ?. So no reason not to let Josh Gowling recuperate gently with a rug over his knees watching from the stands on Saturday. I'm looking forward to getting back to Plainmoor on Saturday, but have just listened to the lunchtime weather forecast telling me it'll be cold, and 'getting progressively colder as the week goes on'. Now if I'd only became a member, I could have been entitled to the cosy TUST issue headwear that will surely be a godsend this coming Saturday. At least I hope to have warm hands from constantly applauding another terrific performance from the mighty Gulls.

Missed this one also, away on a close family friends wedding in the Cotswold's the expense of which would have bought a decent player to the football club! Typically I missed one of the best and more complete performances - pre-booked a year in advance and had absolutely no say in the matter but had half an eye on proceedings as I tucked into the amazing food and free flowing wine. What a difference a week makes now just four points away from the safety of the National league no mans land obscurity ( yes please!!). Back to back wins for the first time in God knows how long. Just watched the match highlights and how noticeable the work rate, high line and how much pressing our front men did. How many times did our forwards pinch the ball, have they been watching Man City who do it so effectively. Surely that was key to both of these wins this last week. Can it be maintained? I think it will though we are bound to have off days and it will be how we handle those off days that will determine where we end up this season.. The players look fitter and better organised than I have seen for a very long time. These last two promising results and performances have been coming for a while now and it was only the goals that have been missing. For the moment, there's enough ability at the club to pull us clear but seven or eight are here on loan and that is a major concern for me. Encouraging that Gnabouyou had ten minutes (how did he fare?), little time to impress but gives us options where we have never seem to have had enough and Owers will now have the luxury of rotating the front men to maintain the high energy levels and pressing of opposition defenders Two clean sheets and that must continue if we are to drag ourselves out of the mess but as I said this has been coming for a while and this week we have finally found our shooting boots to compliment all of the other good work. Great stuff.

I was expecting a well-contested scrap between two struggling teams, but could not have been more wrong.
We won 3-0, but should be kicking ourselves for not getting at least double that.
Leyton Orient were one of the sorriest showers I have ever seen at Plainmoor. When half of those performances have been by us, that really is saying something!
Luke Young's goal sort of summed it up. Leyton Orient passed the ball to him and then stood back to let him advance into a shooting position unchallenged.
The second half was a procession with us waltzing through a midfield and defence that showed no sign whatsoever of getting in the way.
But you can only beat what is in front of you so, when added to the excellent win at Sutton, is this a sign we have turned the corner? I do hope so.
I don't know what Reidy's ear cupping was all about but if it was a "that's enough to prove my critics wrong" statement, I would have to disagree.
I have always found the slagging off Reid suffers elsewhere unfair. He's a whole-hearted lad who has never stopped trying his best. He has until now been let down by poor decision-making and poor end-product.
When he has a dozen goals under his belt and we are clear of the bottom four, THEN he can say he has proved his critics wrong.
I doubt if they will admit it though, or if they do it will be in a "Nicho was crap, Owers is God" type way.

Haha. Jon’s observed NWCOIG system of player performance evaluation is definitely in full effect elsewhere. The reigning Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season appearing to be the most recent recipients of the revisionist touch.
Glad to see SuperJosh is coming good toward the end of his loan spell. Quoidie, Quoidie, Quoidie....

A tough match tonight I'm sure and not the same team we beat 3 nil at Fortress Plainmoor a while back. I wish clubs like Barrow would put us out of our misery by getting the points they require for safety, at this rate - I think we'll be down as late as the Flyde game on the 10th April or perhaps Dover way on the 7th.
