Very sad news indeed.
One of only four men ever to rack up over 400 league appearances for TUFC.
Favourite memory is of him anchoring the midfield in Mike Green's brilliant 1979/80 team allowing Tommy Sermanni, Donal Murphy and Roy Davies to bomb forward as we steam-rollered allcomers at Plainmoor.
I remember chatting with Green and Sermanni and both stressing how Twitch's phenomenal work rate was the key to the team's success.

A very good point has been raised by Stefano.
If you include reserve team and youth team games as well as first team, Twitch is our leading appearance maker by a country mile.
No man in our 118 years + history has ever pulled on a Torquay United shirt as many times as Ian Twitchin.

So sad to have heard from Jon of Ian's sad death. Difficult to believe of such a fit guy. Was outstanding when he was a youth player alongside us full-time apprentices - Phil Sandercock, Dave Pook and me (Stuart McGowan). Good guy and I am astonished how few posts there are on this topic. Hopefully the church was overflowing with TUFC fans. RIP indeed to a good guy.

A few more comments on the other forum linked below - including from your ex-teammates Bob Gray and Steve Bennett. www.torquayfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9753&sid=c7ac47f05012bce874b23ec06dcd7665
