Our man Brett scored the winner albeit in the 6th minute in a 2 1 win for Sutton

What a funny old first half of the season it's been for Brett. The enthusiastic star of the show in pre-season, seeing him rewarded with the captaincy. Surely the multi-talented forward to spearhead our surge to the front from the very start ?
But instead it's been the resurgent Reidy and Psycho Janner (who incidentally betrayed his Cornish roots and instead of selecting a pasty, opted for something called Jollof rice & chicken, when asked to name his favourite meal in Saturday's match programme) who have been notching the goals as we thrash our little NLS opponents.
I had doubts about Brett's fitness but never his ability, but the indications are that he's not only lasting the pace, but also notching a goal or two at the higher level. We're not (currently) desperate to have him back, and he's probably more than happy where he is. Brett's future will no doubt become clearer in January. Reid and Janneh both fit, will always be in contention. Ruari Keating ? are we trying to find a new position for him, or is it accepted he's not got the finishing abilities to claim a shirt as a central striker ? Could Brett slot back in an fulfill the requirements for the style and tempo we want to play ? I wonder if it's not more likely, on the assumption that he and Sutton are both pleased with each other, that he stays there, and GJ brings in further competition for the forward positions over the next month or two.
But let's wish Brett well at Sutton, he's provided us with some magic moments at Plainmoor.

Odd that seven months ago many would sooner Jamie Reid had gone rather than Brett Williams. At the time his re- signing smacked of desperation and when I started this poll I somewhat optimistically voted 4-5 goals. How many was it in the end - its a distant memory!
It took a proper manager to realise who was and who wasn't worth persevering with and BW, along with a few others, wasn't ever going to fit in with GJ's high energy/tempo style of play.
