I had to laugh when I looked at this. At goalkeeper, Scott Bevan better than Terry Adlington and Mervyn Gill? Really? Older supporters will say, I am sure, that those two should at least be in the top five. There are many other anachronisms. For instance, at full back, Tom Kelly better than Colin Bettany, who many older supporters will be in no doubt was the best player in that position the club has ever had? Reg Wyatt as low as 19 among the centre backs, lower than Wayne Thomas? Larry Baxter, the best winger in the club's history, as low as 12? Ron Shaw should also be in the top five. Dennis Lewis was a wing half, not a winger. I suppose that Kevin Hill will be among the top 7 wingers, what a joke!
It is clear that most of those who have voted have been too young to have seen the top players of the 50s and 60s. That is not their fault, and everyone is entitled to voice their opinions about the players they have actually seen, but this poll serves only to highlight the folly of asking supporters to make these kinds of selections.
The whole exercise is a total waste of time.

We should be thankful for the younger (? I'm 56 and I don't remember the sixties) voters. If the 1950s and 1960s generation of supporters had dominated the voting then that would mean our support base is dying off.

Not sure it’s worth getting so het up about. If I could be bothered to contribute to it, then the players I would select be from the era 1979 onwards, as I never saw anyone before that. However, I’m not going to let it rattle me too much that someone might choose Duane Darby ahead of Steve Cooper.
What have we to go on to base how good players from the past were? Hearsay and perhaps some statistical baggage that shows how many games they played for us? On that basis Kevin Hill would be up there.
What we can e certain of, is that no one from this current team will be getting picked.

Don Mills ....the best player we ever had has to be first name on the team sheet and Ron Shaw the most exciting wide player we ever had has to be included
