Well, Jake Thompson arrived on loan and played a few games and at times looked brilliant. His career though never really took off which given his initial performances was a shame.

Well, Jake Thompson arrived on loan and played a few games and at times looked brilliant. His career though never really took off which given his initial performances was a shame. I can certainly remember Jake Thompson Simon he was a breath of fresh air at the time and was running rings around defenders and making them all look a bit foolish. I can't recall the opposition that night (Northampton?) but one thug defender took it personally and took him out with a tackle that would have seen red these days and had the crowd seathing. Therein lies a problem skillful tricky players will get rough treatment if not protected by officials, particularly at this level, and why so many end up like Thompson and Banton gradually drifting out of the game or just failing to progress. Personally I love to watch those type of players Mustapha Caryol was another "Marmite" type you either love or hate. I could never understand some of the abuse he used to get from the sidelines when here. He was young and raw but had undoubted talent that was subsequently utilised by other clubs who were happy to invest in him and who made them lots of money. Is it any wonder that players of this type can look uninterested and lazy at times if they are regularly getting clobbered and derided by pockets of supporters from the terraces.

Are we going to end up signing players we want or players that nobody else wants?

Well there are supposed to be some signings in the pipeline but the longer things go without additions the more likely it is that we will beg anyone to sign up!

Every single manager in recent years has struggled to attract quality players here for one reason or another. Why should we think Owers will have an easier job? Hes going to have to be tactically clever and unite and build an exceptional team spirit to succeed with whatever squad he ends up with. What did I just say? Bring people together ? Build team spirit?

Owers is way on annual leave (according to the HE) and Hedges is handling negotiations and is looking at two more players plus at least one if not two 'keepers.

Goodness, Hedges exists and is actually doing something? Seems numbers of anticipated signings are dipping? Surely a manager who was enthusiastic would nail down signings ahead of taking holidays. Looks like things will be extremely underwhelming in forthcoming weeks.

Hedges also comments:
"Quite a few of the players we approached at the end of the season are coming back to us now and wanting to sign"

Certainly going to need quit a few 6-8 players perhaps before loans. Still not over assured by progress but happy to stand to be corrected!

Hedges also comments: "Quite a few of the players we approached at the end of the season are coming back to us now and wanting to sign" They were obviously first choices if approached then, so hopefully we will be hearing of them signing very soon.
