CARDIFF CITY "Torquay United Football Club is pleased to announce that Premier League side Cardiff City are coming to Plainmoor for a pre-season friendly.
Former Torquay United manager Neil Warnock will be bringing his 1st team to Plainmoor on Friday, July 20 (kick-off 7pm). The Bluebirds had a tremendous 2017/18 campaign as they clinched automatic promotion to the Premier League."
A big thanks to Mr Warnock for this fixture no doubt. Should bring in a big crowd and the pick of pre season games.

Apparently Devon Live were speculating that there may be one more Football League club to be announced.

If this is the case it’s a little worrying if we are back to the old formula - not enough players signed up so scrapping around amongst a load dross players looking for anyone to take them on?

Is the whole ground open or just the Family Stand and Bristows Bench?

I'm sure there are many besides me, unable to come across to enjoy warm Torbay evenings and the pre-season friendlies, but who are extremely grateful to Jon in particular, and to everyone else who have provided such good and detailed accounts of our friendly matches, letting us know how the new squad has looking in these very early days. The Non League Paper also has our very own King Kev providing a few ideas and recollections on the subject of pre-season. Yesterday I watched the highlights of our game against the young squad from Bristol City. The skill and precision with which they could slice through us with one touch passing, not to mention their speed of thought and movement to capitalise from this, had to be admired. But is there any point in working on the training ground how best to set up and counter that sort of opposition that made us look inferior? The nature of the threat we will face, be it from long balls over the top, or battering-ram forwards with elbows flailing, when the serious stuff starts in the NLS, will be a different kettle of fish. The broader concept of facing tougher opposition in pre-season, so that you get a boost when being matched against less able opponents when the league fixtures kick off, is something I'm in favour of. But you also need a mix, and with fixtures such as our game against Dorchester on Saturday, hopefully Gary Owers will feel he's roughly achieved that. EDIT: When I can get a link to King Kev's words to work properly, I'll include it. In the meantime copy and paste (don't click on) the text below into your browser and it should provide some success. www.thenonleaguefootballpaper.com/features/23596/former-torquay-united-manager-kevin-nicholson-on-pre-season-and-the-opening-day/
