How competitive would we be in NL North?

I think it's grim up North.  But sticking exclusively with the football I'd draw much the same conclusion as Pete, in that we've got a strong enough team to give a good account of ourselves, but that the National League North has a higher overall standard.

I know before this season kicked off, several were bigging up Hereford and tipping them as contenders should they be allocated an NLS slot. As things transpired they were shoved up North, and now, even with improved form since Josh Gowling brought calm and order to their defence, they're still no more than 4 places above the relegation zone.

We could also look at the teams each league promoted to see how well they fared. At the end of last season (2017/18) the NLS sent Havant & Waterlooville & Braintree Town up to the National League. A quick glance to see how those two Southern representatives are doing, shows us Braintree propping up the rest as they're bottom of the league, and Havant doing slightly better, three points and three places above the relegation zone.

Now when we contrast that with the two sides that the National League North promoted: there's Salford City in 2nd place and challenging Orient for the automatic promotion place, and Harrogate who are one place and one point outside of the play off places.

It seems to point to a higher standard in the North. But never mind, it's warmer where we are, and neither do we have to put gravy on our chips.
