link - Johnson once again reiterating that he is looking for 2 more loan signings. My money is still on Baldwin and Edwards but have Buse and Great Evans worked their way into the mix?

GJ does indeed suggest they will be loan signings Rob. Buse has impressed though . Not sure of his pedigree age etc but read some good reports. Great Evans certainly made an impression but may have other interested clubs and was concussed/injured in his cameo appearance at Bideford I believe. Would have thought he would have been around last night if both parties were keen. Whatever GJ will know exactly what he needs to bolster the squad and I trust him to get it.

The hoped-for signings yesterday did not materialise or were at least not publicly made known. We now know that Janneh is not one of them but I think most expected him to go to a league club anyway as Bristol fast track him ready for their first team.
As can be seen from above, Johnson has been talking about two loan signings for a few weeks now and with Devon live reporting a closed friendly against Exeter today then it is possible they are to be play in this and maybe Johnson will keep their names under wraps for a bit longer?

I'm pretty sure GJ will have good reason for not announcing anything and maybe the injury to Janneh has indirectly affected other players moving out on loan though I understand he was on his way to Doncaster Rovers. Also quite possible targets have had other irons in he fire and chosen to go elsewhere, we all know how fickle footballers and their agents are. However I doubt GJ would have announced the "three coming in on Monday" unless he was 99% certain of them putting pen to paper.
The process of gradual improvement and sustainability will never happen overnight. I trust him more than any other previous manager in our recent history to bring in the right players and if that means a bit of a waiting game then so be it.

Gary Johnson didn't announce that three were coming in on Monday. What he said was he "hoped" there would be three players arriving on Monday and obviously that hasn't happened.

link - update on Devon Live about the delays but stills hopes to have the players in ready for Saturday. Also both Davis and Dickson should be back in 2 or 3 weeks with the former having resumed non contact training but this will mean Vincent having to now fill in at left back for several games then.

I hope one of the three players is a left back or Vincent may go the way of that Irish lad a few years ago!

What I quite liked about this signing was it was preplanned and he knew he was coming to the club when he played us last week and he must have had mixed feelings when his team were three nil down against us at half-time.
However it shows the better recruitment policy that the Johnsons are implementing looking for the right character in the side as well as filling a big hole at the back and the added versatility is a bonus and perhaps goes hand in hand with a quality player like Vincent who has the skill set to play in numerous positions.
He will be 20 in September and almost exactly the same age as Mark Ellis was at the start of our 2008/2009 promotion season for example and if you good enough you are old enough. Just as well, as our back line on Saturday may consist of 2 teenagers, a 21 year old and old man Cameron at 22! Even MacDonald behind them is still only 22!
